Flaherty and Tyman Earn Weekly NEC Awards

Flaherty

Tyman

EASTON, Mass. (March 7, 2023)- The Stonehill College baseball team saw both Ryan Flaherty earn Rookie of the Week honors, and Matt Tyman named Pitcher of the Week as announced by the Northeast Conference earlier today.

Flaherty made a strong impression last weekend against Kansas State and Army as the freshman infielder notched two hits and drove in four runs along with the eventual game-winning home run in Sunday's win against Army. Flaherty helped the squad earn the program's first Division I win when he launched a three-run shot in the top of the ninth for his second home run of the year. He hit his first homer Saturday against Kansas State.

Last week against Army and Kansas State, Tyman tossed six innings and allowed just two hits while striking out five. In Monday's start against Kansas State, Tyman went five innings and fanned two on just two hits. Tyman had a stretch in Monday's game where he did not allow a hit through the first two innings. In his three appearances this season, Tyman has thrown eight innings and struck out six, and has posted an ERA of 1.13.

Along with Tyman being named a Prime Performer, Stonehill also saw Trey Ciulla-Hall earn Prime Performers honors. Ciulla-Hall launched three home runs with two of those three being three-run shots and is now up to nine RBIs on the year. In Sunday's win over Army, Ciulla-Hall hit a three-run shot in the fifth that put the squad up 4-0. Ciulla-Hall also hit a home run in yesterday's 6-5 battle with Kansas State and he has now hit a home run in back-to-back games and has had a hit in his last three.

Stonehill will have a few days off to rest up before traveling to the University of Nebraska-Omaha for a three-game set starting on Friday, March 10 at 6:30 p.m.
