Key Moments

  • Tarleton State scored two quick runs in the bottom of the first after Cris Enriquez hit a deep fly ball to right field in foul territory that was far enough for the runner to tag up and score. Later in the inning, another Texans run came across the plate on a wild throw.
  • After going down without a hit in the first, Marshall grabbed the program's first Division I hit after he hit a hard grounder up the middle that was knocked down by Tarleton State's shortstop. Marshall hustled down the line and dove head first to beat out the throw. In the next at-bat, Ryan Douglas drew a walk to have runners on first and second for the Purple and White. Despite having two runners on, the Texans escaped the jam without allowing a run.
  • The Texans tacked on four more runs in the third highlighted by an RBI single from Alec Williams and increased Tarleton State's lead to 6-0.
  • Despite the large lead, Stonehill responded with a four-run seventh inning and cut the Texans lead down to two (6-4). After Sam Parks reached first on a hit by pitch, Ciulla-Hall drove Parks in on a RBI double to deep left field.
  • Later in the inning after a Douglas walk brought home Ciulla-Hall and Blaine Lidsky took advantage of a wild pitch to score the third run, Chris Roberti drove in the fourth run with a sacrifice RBI to center which scored Marshall.
  • However, Tarleton State put the game out of reach in the eighth when the hosts plated five runs (12-4) led by a two-run RBI double to left center from Williams.
