RINDGE, N.H. (October 9, 2021) - Stonehill College posted its seventh-straight win and 12th over its last 13 matches overall with a five-set comeback over Franklin Pierce University in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball action inside the FPU Fieldhouse this afternoon.

The Details

  • The come-back victory was the second in the last four matches for Stonehill helping to extend that win-streak to seven (Mercy, Sept. 28)
  • Stonehill attempted an unbelievable 198 attacks on the afternoon finishing with 65 kills while Franklin Pierce swung away 159 times finishing with 39 slams.
  • Junior Basia Peragine led the way with an outstanding 21 kills in the outing, one of three Skyhawks to record a double-digit kill effort. It was the first 20+ kill effort of the season for the Skyhawks and Peragine's third 20-kill outing joining a pair from the 2020-21 season.
  • The team's 65 kills are the most of the season.
  • Senior Abby Remick finished, yet again, with double digit kills putting up 15 on the afternoon, marking her fifth-straight double-digit match and 11th this season overall, while also adding 14 digs. Classmate Shannon Burgess added 13 kills and five blocks.
  • Senior Lauren Wilke dished out a season-high 55 assists to go with 13 digs, and a pair of blocks

An early run in the opening set behind the serving of Morgan Schmutzler gave the Ravens a 3-point buffer that Stonehill was unable to erase. Franklin Pierce extended the lead later in the game to make it a 20-14 game en route to the victory. Mariah Robles sealed the victory with her second kill of the set.
  • The two teams went point-for-point until the 7-7 mark where Franklin Pierce was able to build a little bit of a buffer thanks to a Cierra Dolan kill, later extending the lead to four (13-9) again at the hands of Dolan.
  • Stonehill battled back to tie the game at 13-all behind the serve of Remick but Franklin Pierce was able to immediately respond and make it an 18-14 game en route to the tight 25-22 victory.
  • Stonehill got one back with a 25-19 set three victory. A 3-0 to start things set the tone for the rest of the set. The Skyhawks finished with 14 kills in the set, led by six from Remick, including a pair down the stretch to seal the win. Burgess and sophomore Jentry Allen each added three kills, while senior Clare Feeman tacked on a pair.
  • Peragine stepped up for the Skyhawks in set number four to force a fifth set finishing with eight of the team's 18 kills in the set. The two teams were neck-and-neck for much of the set, but a late 8-2 run, thanks in part to Peragine, helped Stonehill to a 25-18 victory.
  • The fifth set was a set of runs and a battle for the ages.
  • An early run by Franklin Pierce gave the Ravens an 8-4 lead in a set to 15. But the Skyhawks didn't back down leveling the score at 8-all. That was followed by another 4-0 run by Franklin Pierce to make it a 12-8 set and once again Stonehill chipped away at that lead to knot the game up at 13-all.
  • The continued to go back and forth and took some extra points to determine a winner. A Peragine block erased a Raven match-winning bid, followed by a Peragine kill to even things at 17-all. Burgess helped the Skyhawks to an 18-17 lead, and after Franklin Pierce evened things up, an Allen kill and an attack out of bounds by the Ravens ended the match at 20-18 in favor of the Skyhawks.
