DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (September 28, 2021) - Stonehill College battled back from two sets down to post its ninth win over its last ten matches with a 3-2 (22-25, 21-25, 27-25, 25-21, 15-7) triumph over Mercy College in a non-conference volleyball match at Victory Hall Gymnasium tonight.

The Details

  • Senior setter Lauren Wilke posted a double-double with a season-high 49 assists and ten digs, while contributing two kills, a service ace and two solo blocks. She set for three from Stonehill with double figure kill totals on the night.
  • Senior Abby Remick was among the trio in double-figures with a match and season-high 19 kills and 15 digs for her fourth double-double of the season and third in four matches, while adding three service aces and three block assists.
  • Senior Shannon Burgess added a career-high 15 kills, hitting .429 with just three attack errors, two aces and two blocks.
  • Junior Basia Peragine rounded out the Stonehill attack in double figures with 13 kills and five digs, while senior Carly Russell chipped in with 14 digs and three aces.
  • After dropping the first two sets, Stonehill held on to take the third 27-25 following back-to-back Mercy attack errors after the Mavericks had battled back from 24-21 down after a Remick ace.
  • Mercy jumped out to a quick 5-1 lead in the fourth set, but Stonehill pulled even at 11-11 with a Remick kill. The set was still knotted at 17 apiece, when the Skyhawks reeled off six-straight points on Russell's serve, including two aces, to open a 23-17 lead they would see out to force a fifth set.
  • Knotted a three, Stonehill grabbed the lead from there and didn't look back, using a five-point run on the service of sophomore Kristen DeLorenzo to take control (12-5), including back-to-back aces.
  • Stonehill sealed the win from there with kills from Remick and Burgess around a pair of Mercy points.

Stonehill (9-5, 1-0 NE10) is back in action on Saturday, when it hosts Southern New Hampshire University for a Northeast-10 Conference match at Merkert Gymnasium at 1 p.m. Mercy (5-7, 1-0 ECC) is right back on the court tomorrow night when it hosts Molloy College for an East Coast Conference match at 7 p.m.
