Men's Ice Hockey Unveils 2023-24 Schedule

2023-24 Schedule

EASTON, Mass. (August 7, 2023)- Stonehill College Men's Ice Hockey Head Coach David Borges unveiled the Skyhawks' complete 2023-24 competition schedule on Monday. The squad will open the new campaign with a road contest at Northeastern University on Saturday, October 7. Last season, the Huskies finished ranked 16th in the country with a 17-13-5 record and 14-7-3 in Hockey East play.

The 2023-24 schedule features a total of 38 regular-season contests with opponents from seven different conferences that include the Hockey East and Big Ten. Four of Stonehill's games this year will include matchups against schools that finished within the final top 20 rankings.

The new slate will also keep the Skyhawks on the road more than most years with 26 contests away from friendly confines. However, the Purple and White are ready for the challenges that lie ahead.

After another road matchup against a Hockey East member (Providence College) on Friday, Oct. 13, Stonehill returns home to Bridgewater Ice Arena for the 2023-24 season home opener against Long Island University on Saturday, Oct. 14. However, the Skyhawks head back out on the road again for three more contests at Bentley University (Oct. 20-21) and then at Brown University on Oct. 29 before coming back home again for another contest versus Long Island University on Oct. 30.

Stonehill kicks off the month of November with home and road contests against fellow Division I independents, Arizona State University at Mullett Arena on Nov. 3-4 and then welcomes the University of Alaska-Fairbanks on Nov. 10-11. Continuing its brief three-game homestand, the Skyhawks conclude the home slate for November with a game against Anna Maria College on Saturday, Nov. 18.

Despite only playing four games in December, the Purple and White will face a tough slate led by a road matchup with Utica College (Dec. 1) who finished with an impressive 25-2-1 record and a perfect 20-0-0 record in UCHC play. With not much rest in between, the Skyhawks return home taking on Brown University on Dec. 3 and then conclude December with road contests at Clarkson University (Dec. 8) and Merrimack College (Dec. 31). Last season, the Warriors finished 14th in the country in the final NCAA men's ice hockey rankings.

For the entire month of January, the Skyhawks find themselves on the road with eight contests against many strong opponents. The squad heads to Moon Township, Pa. at Robert Morris University on Jan. 5-6 and then on Jan. 12-13, Stonehill faces its toughest challenge on the year at Michigan. Last season, the Wolverines went 26-12-3 and 12-10-2 in Big Ten play and made it all the way to the Frozen Four before falling to eventual National Champion, Quinnipiac, 5-2. With its strong season, Michigan finished the year ranked third in the final rankings. The squad concludes the month of January with road series' at Long Island (Jan. 19-20) and Lindenwood (Jan. 26-27)

However, in February, the Skyhawks are back home for six-straight contests which is kicked off with a weekend set versus Long Island on Feb. 2-3 and then hosting Lindenwood on Feb. 9-10. Three days later, the Purple and White take on old NE10 foes, Saint Anselm College on Feb. 13 and then Assumption University on Feb. 14. After concluding their home slate versus the Greyhounds, Stonehill wraps up February with a road contest at Long Island on Feb. 23-24.

The Skyhawks conclude the 2023-24 season with an Alaskan road trip against both University Alaska-Anchorage (Mar. 1-2) and University Alaska-Fairbanks (Mar. 6-7).
