Women's Soccer Drops 2-0 Decision at Assumption

WORCESTER, Mass. (September 30, 2015) – Junior goalkeeper Jamie Block (Georgetown, Massachusetts/Georgetown) registered a season-high ten saves, but Stonehill College dropped a 2-0 road decision at Assumption College this evening in Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer action at the Multi-Sport Stadium.

Block, who has now recorded a season-high for saves in each of Stonehill's last three matches, made seven of her ten stops in the first half tonight.

Senior forward Meagan Elliott (Norton, Massachusetts/Norton) put a team-high two shots on goal and nearly got the Skyhawks on the board in the 88th minute when she was awarded a penalty kick, but the attempt missed high.

Assumption freshman goalkeeper Rose Lipinski (East Bridgewater, Massachusetts/East Bridgewater) made four saves en route to her first career shutout. 

Reigning NE-10 Player of the Year Paige Radomski (Kingston, Massachusetts/Silver Lake Regional) gave the Greyhounds an early advantage when she received a cross from sophomore forward Amanda Arnold (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) and fired a shot inside the left post in the 14th minute.

Radomski would add an assist later in the match, as she connected with freshman forward Kallie Villemaire (Plattsburgh, New York/Beekmantown) in the 79th minute to give Assumption a 2-0 lead.

Stonehill was outshot 14-3 in the first half, but the Skyhawks responded with nine shots over the final 45 minutes, three of which were on target. Assumption held a narrow 5-4 edge in corner kicks.

Stonehill (2-5-2, 1-3-1 NE-10) will look to get back on track this Saturday afternoon at Saint Michael's College. Assumption (5-3, 3-3 NE-10) remains at home to host Franklin Pierce University on Saturday.
