Junior Jamie Block records season-high eight saves

EASTON, Mass. (September 26, 2015) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team and Adelphi University played to a double overtime, 0-0 draw in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Skyhawk Field.

Junior goalkeeper Jamie Block (Georgetown, Massachusetts/Georgetown) registered her second shutout on the season, making a season-high eight saves along the way.

Block kept the Skyhawks in the game on multiple occasions, making big save after big save. With under two minutes to play in the first half, Adelphi's Jeanine Nunez (Staten Island New York/Staten Island Academy) fired a shot from the corner of the six yard box. The junior goalie made the initial save, but the rebound landed directly on the feet of Monica DiDonato (Eastchester, New York/Eastchester) who ripped a point blank shot at Block. Block got her hands up to deflect the ball to a defender who cleared the danger.

The Panthers had another quality scoring opportunity in the second half off of a corner kick. The ball got sent into the box to Kelsey Malles (Poughkeepsie, New York/Roy C. Ketcham) who one timed a shot to the near post that beat the keeper, but went right to Brianna Duserick (Canton Massachusetts/Canton) who cleared the ball off of the goal-line.

Adelphi freshman keeper Anne Marie Ulliac (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada/Archbishop MacDonald) recorded her fourth shutout of the season and third in a row, without making a single save, as neither of Stonehill's two shots were on target.

Following this afternoon's contest, Stonehill (2-4-2, 1-2-1 NE-10) will be on the road, traveling to Worcester, Massachusetts to face Assumption College on September 30th at 7 p.m. Adelphi (5-2-1, 3-0-1 NE-10) will be back in action on Wednesday, when the Panthers host Merrimack College.
