Bresa nets game-winner in 77th minute for Pace

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. (October 16, 2015) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team was handed a 1-0 loss by Pace University Friday evening in Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) action at Pace Stadium.

Freshman midfielder Ariana Bresa (New Milford, New Jersey/Northern Valley Demarest) potted the game-winning goal for the Setters in the 77th minute as she dribbled down the right sideline, beat a defender and fired to the near post, past Stonehill junior goalkeeper Jamie Block (Georgetown, Massachusetts/Georgetown) and into the net for her fourth goal of the season.

Stonehill nearly responded with a goal of their own in the 82nd minute, when freshman Courtney Campo's (Quincy, Massachusetts, North Quincy) shot rang off the crossbar. Senior Meagan Elliott (Norton, Massachusetts/Norton) led the Skyhawk attack with two shots.

Pace sophomore goalkeeper Aisha Chauhan (Carteret, New Jersey/Carteret) earned her seventh shutout of the season, turning away three shots. Block shouldered the loss but was outstanding in goal, making eight saves for the Skyhawks.

Pace outshot Stonehill, 16-6, and held an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Stonehill (3-8-3, 2-6-2 NE-10) returns home for an NE-10 clash with Southern Connecticut State University on Tuesday, October 20th at 3:30 p.m. Pace (7-3-4, 5-2-4 NE-10) hosts the #20 ranked team in the country, Adelphi University for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
