EASTON, Mass. (October 6, 2015) – Bentley University scored midway through the second half and held on for a 1-0 victory over Stonehill College this afternoon, in Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer action at Skyhawk Field. The victory snapped an 11 year winless drought against the Skyhawks for the Falcons.

Bentley junior forward Ana Tantum (Trumbull, Connecticut/Trumbull) provided the only goal of the contest when she collected a cross from freshman midfielder Carly Kohler (West Islip, New York/West Islip) in the 64th minute and beat Stonehill junior goalkeeper Jamie Block (Georgetown, Massachusetts/Georgetown) to score her team leading sixth goal of the season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Deirdre Macrorie (Winchester Massachusetts/Winchester) made six saves and registered her fourth clean sheet of the season for the Falcons, while Block stopped four of the five shots that came her way.

Stonehill controlled the pace of play in the first half, creating several scoring opportunities, but the Skyhawks were never able to break through. In the 12th minute Merideth Moore (Salem, Connecticut/East Lyme) collected a pass on the left side of the six yard box, turned and shot, but the shot went directly off the post and out of danger. With 10 minutes to go in the first half, Freshman Courtney Campo (Quincy, Massachusetts/North Quincy) received a ball on the top of the box and blasted a shot off of the crossbar. The Skyhawks outshot the Falcons 15-8 on the game, and held a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal.

Stonehill (3-6-2, 2-4-1 NE-10) will look to rebound this Tuesday, when Saint Anselm College visits Skyhawk Field in NE-10 action at 2:00 p.m. Bentley (3-5-2, 1-5-1 NE-10) will be dealing with the Ravens in their next match, as the Falcons hit the road to take on Franklin Pierce on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
