EASTON, Mass. (April 18, 2024) – Stonehill College freshman Helen Brodahl has made program history once again as the first in program history to earn Northeast Conference Golfer of the Week accolades the Conference announced on Wednesday.

Brodahl, also named an NEC Prime Performer for the first time in her career for her efforts, earns her first NEC Golfer of the Week selection after posting the first medalist finish in the Stonehill women's golf program's six-year history at the Skyhawk Senior Showdown on Thursday. It marked the first time the program hosted an event on its home course at Thorny Lea Golf Club in Brockton. She carded a program-record low round of one-over-par 71 under heavy, wet and chilly conditions on the 5,814-yard, par 70 layout, recording 13 pars and two birdies over her round.

Brodahl is Stonehill's second Golfer of the Week in program history overall after Sloane Van Zanen, '22 earned the honors in the Skyhawks final season in the Northeast-10 Conference on March 16, 2022, prior to beginning the transition to NCAA Division I. Brodahl bested the previous program low for a single round of 74 set by Emma Beaulieu, '22 at the 2018 Penmen Columbus Day Invitational and later matched by current sophomore teammate Jaelyn DeBoise at the 2022 Franklin Pierce Fall Invitational.

Brodahl won the event on Thursday that included fellow NEC member Merrimack College and Bryant University by two strokes. She parred the first four holes before a bogey on the par-4 fifth hole, which she got back two holes later with her first birdie on the par-4 seventh. She completed the front nine at even par 35, and then added her second birdie of the day on the par-4 12th hole to move under par for her round. Bogeys on the 14th (par-4) and 17th holes (par-3) led her to complete the inward nine in 36 strokes. Brodahl helped lead her team to a second-place team finish at the event with a 316-team score.

Brodahl has competed in all nine events to date in her first collegiate season at Stonehill, leading the Skyhawks with an 81.26 stroke average over her 23 rounds. She has posted eight rounds in the 70s, including her program-record round last week, having registered eight of Stonehill's 13 sub-80 rounds this season overall. Brodahl has two top ten finishes in her first collegiate season, including her first-place finish on Thursday as her first top five finish. She posted a sixth-place finish at the Lehigh Invitational in October with a season-best two-round score of 151 (+7) with rounds of 76 and 75 at the event.

Stonehill will wrap up its second NCAA Division I season this weekend when it competes at the NEC Championships at Callaway Resort & Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia, starting tomorrow and running through Sunday.
