Brodahl Leads Women's Golf to Season Low Score at Lehigh Invitational

Skyhawks move up to 12th with season-best 318 team score, while Brodahl posts top ten finish in fall finale

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (October 24, 2023) – Stonehill College posted a season-best team score of 318, led by a pair of first-year golfers, and moved up to a 12th place finish in the team standings at the Lehigh Invitational, hosted on the 6,012-yard, par-72 layout at Saucon Valley Country Club's Grace Course today.

Stonehill's 318 is 17 strokes better than its first-round score and is the Skyhawks lowest round since shooting a 310 in the second round of the Golden Knights Orlando Invitational in March. The Skyhawks finished with a two-round score of 653 (33-318) and moved past Bethune-Cookman College (334-328=662) and College of the Holy Cross (334-329=663) on Tuesday, finishing just a stroke behind fellow Northeast Conference member Saint Francis University (324-328=652) and six back of Monmouth College (326-321=647) for the top ten. FDU, also of the NEC, won the team title with a two-day score of 610 (311-299) – seven strokes lower than UAlbany (313-304=617).

Freshman Helen Brodahl notched her first collegiate top ten finish in sixth place in the field of 90 golfers on the individual leaderboard with a two-round score of seven-over-par 151, carding Stonehill's lowest round of the season with a season-best three over par 75 today after matching her previous season-low with a 76 on Monday. She finished just four shots behind medalist Mariel Tee from UAlbany with a two-day score of three over 147 (73-74) – two shots lower than Yuki Zhu of host Lehigh University (77-72=149) in second place.

Brodahl fired in four birdies in her round to finish four shots shy of the program-best two round score, including three on the back nine on her way to a one-over-par 37 on the back. She birdied the par-four ninth, 13th and 16th holes, as well as the par-five 15th. Brodahl shared the tournament lead with her six birdies over the course of the two-day event, ranking third in par-four scoring (4.25), playing those holes at five over par over her two rounds.

Fellow Stonehill freshman Kenna Roman matched her season-best with a round of 78 today to move up to a tie for 32nd overall with a two-round score of 161 (83-78). She posted a birdie on the par-four 12th hole and finished the back nine at one-over-par 37.

  • Freshman Sydney Hidalgo improved on Tuesday by four strokes with a second round 81 for a two-day score of 166 (85-81) to finish tied for 53rd overall. She carded three birdies today, bookending her round that started on the tenth hole with birdies on the par-four ninth and par-five tenth, to go with a birdie on the par-three 14th hole. Hidalgo finished strong, shooting a three-over-par 39 on the front nine.
  • Freshman Carol Pignato moved up three spots on the leaderboard to finish tied for 74th overall at 176, bettering her opening round 91 with an 85 today.
  • Sophomore Jaelyn DeBoise carved 11 strokes off her first-round score with a second round 84 today to finish tied for 78th overall with a two-day score of 179. She notched a birdie on the par-five fourth hole during her round.
  • Junior Mollie Thomas rounds out the Stonehill golfers at the event, competing individually, and posting a two-day score of 185 (94-91) to finish 84th overall.
