Stonehill Caps Off NE10 Championships Finishing Third; Stracqualursi Grabs First In Shotput

EASTON, Mass. (May 7, 2022)- The Stonehill College women's track and field team wrapped day two of the Northeast-10 Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships finishing in third place. Only American International College (136 points), and Southern New Hampshire University (176.5 points). On the day senior thrower, Krista Stracqualursi earned first place in shotput (her first NE10 Championship win in the event), and overall, the Skyhawks had three earn All-Conference honors. 

Highlights:

  • In shotput, Stracqualursi recorded a toss of 12.05 meters to secure 10 early points for Stonehill. Her first-place finish also garnered All-Conference honors and she also earned All-Conference in the discus when she came in third with a throw of 37.51 meters. Also competing in shotput with Stracqualuri was Kaley Enright who notched a top-10 finish (eighth) at 11.02 meters. 
  • Jillian Howard also earned an All-Conference nod when she competed in the 3,000m steeplechase. In the event, Howard set a personal record when she crossed the finish line in second place at 10:57.45. With her strong performance, Howard now holds the second-best time in the event in all of the NE10. Along with her great performance, her time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase was an NCAA provisional qualifying time. Meaning, Howard is now eligible for the 2022 Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Grand Valley State University on May 27-29. 
  • Stonehill's other All-Conference representative was Kaytlin Encarnacao after she collected third place in the 400-meter race with a time of 57.21 seconds. Her strong time ended being a new career-best for the sophomore and with her time in today's meet, Encarnacao has the third-fastest time in the conference. 

Other Performances:

  • Both of Stonehill's relay teams each notched fourth-place finishes. In the 4x100, Savanna MacalusoMadison RousseauAshley Warren, and Encarnacao brought up the anchor that gave the Skyhawks a time of 49.44 seconds. The 4x400 consisted of Casey Gannon (1:02.2), Rousseau (1:00.8), Warren (59.9 seconds), and Encarnacao (57.30 seconds) in the anchor again for fourth place at 4:00.22. 
  • Gannon also partook in the 400-meter hurdles where she ended up in fourth place with a time of 1:05.17 that gave Stonehill five points. 
  • Sticking with the hurdles, Rousseau ran in the 100-meter hurdles in which she finished at 14.65 seconds for fourth place and also gave the Skyhawks five points. 
  • Stonehill saw their most runners compete in the 5,000-meter run (Victoria LombardiRebecca Erhard, and Jillian Callahan). Lombardi paced the purple and white when she ended up in fourth place when she ran the fourth-fastest time in the conference (17:47.38). Not far behind was Erhard who ran a career-best, 18:24.11, and finished in seventh, finally, Callahan came in 12th at 19:02.58.
  • Abigail Creamer represented Stonehill in the triple jump with a leap of 10.83 meters which earned the Skyhawks two points on the day. 
  • In the heptathlon, Cassidy Becker partook in the event and grabbed a fourth-place finish totaling 3,895 points. Her strongest performance was in the long jump with a second-place finish at 5.01 meters.
