EASTON, Mass. (May 5, 2022)-  The Stonehill College Women's Track and Field team will be competing in the Northeast-10 Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship this week, May 6-7 at W.B. Mason Stadium at Stonehill College. 

For the Pre Championship Coaches Poll, American International College was slated to earn the championship receiving 82 points with five first-place votes. Stonehill was tabbed in third place, earning 67 points in the Coache's Poll with only Southern New Hampshire ahead with 80 points and five first-place votes. 

Stonehill will have their most runners (five) compete in the 100-meter hurdles preliminaries that are scheduled to start on Friday. Three out of the five runners competing are seniors Abigail CreamerCasey Gannon, and Savanna Macaluso who will each be competing in their third NE10 Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Creamer has competed in this event in each of her NE10 Outdoor Track and Field Championship appearances including a fifth-place finish in last year's championship with a time of 15.35. Overall on the year, Creamer set a personal record in the 100-meter hurdles at the Holy Cross Invitational when she crossed the line at 15.20 seconds. 

Gannon has competed in the 100-meter hurdles in each of her NE10 Championship appearances while finishing within the top five both times and even set her personal best in the event during the 2021 NE10 Outdoor Championship with a time of 14.73 seconds and a second-place finish. On the year so far, Gannon won the event once at the SNHU Spring Invitational at 15.17 seconds.  Macaluso is also a strong competitor in the 100-meter hurdles as she posted a top-10 finish at last year's championship (ninth place-15.70). Last week at the Skyhawks Invitational, Macaluso ran a career-best, 15.51 seconds for eighth place. 

Rebecca Gracia returns to the NE10 Outdoor Championships for a second year and at last year's meet, she set a career-best time of 18.59 seconds. During the year, Gracia ran a season-best at the Holy Cross Invitational at 19.15 seconds. Meanwhile, Madison Rousseau will make her NE10 Outdoor Championship debut. Rousseau has raced in the 100-meter hurdles multiple times throughout the season and set a personal best at her most recent meet (Skyhawk Invitational) with a time of 14.69 seconds (fourth place). Her time is also the fifth-best in the NE10.

Kaytlin Encarnacao will be competing in multiple events for Stonehill this weekend and they are the 200 and 400-meter dashes. Encarnacao competed in the 400-meter dash at last year's NE10 Outdoor Championship and posted a seventh-place finish at 59.19 seconds. During the season, Encarnacao has raced in this event multiple times and has won each time including the Merrimack Alumni Classic where she set a personal record of 58.14 seconds. Her performance from that meet is the fourth-fastest time in the NE10 this season. As for her performances in the 200-meter, she finished within the top three each time and ran a career-best, 25.97 seconds at last week's Skyhawk Invitational. 

Senior thrower, Krista Stracqualursi will also be competing in the NE10 Outdoor Track and Field Championships for the third time in her career. Stracqualursi will be competing in three throwing events: discus, hammer throw, and shotput. For the discus throw, Stracqualursi's season-high is 37.50 meters set back at the Holy Cross Invitational which was good for eighth place. In the hammer throw this season, Stracqualursi tossed a personal best, 38.81 meters also at the Holy Cross Invitational which was good for 10th in the NE10. Finally, in shotput, Stracqualursi had a career-high throw of 12.87 meters at the UMass Lowell Invitational in March which was good for second place. In terms of the conference, her throw is currently the best in the NE10.

Madison Gunderway makes her NE10 Outdoor Championship debut in the hammer throw where throughout the year, she has set a new career-best each time. She has posted top-10 finishes in four out of her five appearances, and two of them were wins (UMass Lowell Invitational and SNHU Spring Invitational). Currently, her personal-record throw is listed at 43.82 meters from the Skyhawk Invitational and is the fourth highest toss in the NE10. 

Jillian Howard like Encarnacao will also be competing in two events at the NE10 Outdoor Championship. In one of her events, the 3,000-meter steeplechase will be her first time competing in the event at the NE10 Championship, but her second time overall competing in the event. In her only time competing in the steeplechase at the Merrimack Track Carnival, Howard won the event with a time of 11:13.54 which is currently the second-fastest time in the NE10. Howard will also be running in the 1,500-meter in which she set a personal-best at the Skyhawk Invitational when she crossed the finish line at 4:42.96 (third place).

Also competing with Howard in the 1,500-meter are Victoria LombardiClaire Mason, and Caitlin Swanson. Lombardi has competed in the event twice this season and ran a season-best, 4:57.88 last week at the Skyhawk Invitational. Mason makes her 1,500-meter 2022 debut this weekend but will be making her third NE10 Championship appearance. Her current personal best (4:45.71) was set at last year's NE10 Outdoor Championship in which she won the event. Finally, Swanson makes her NE10 Outdoor Championship debut but has run in the 1,500-meter multiple times this season. Her personal best came at the Holy Cross Invitational when she finished 12th at 4:58.1.
