Encarnacao and Lombardi Capture All-New England Honors After Day One At New England Indoor Championship

ROXBURY, Mass. (February 4, 2022)-Stonehill College women's track and field had a nice showing after the first day at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships Friday at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center. Kaytlin Encarnacao and Victoria Lombardi earned All-New England honors to pace the Skyhawks on the day. To earn All-New England status, student-athletes needed to record a top-eight finish in their respective events.

Highlights:

  • Encarnacao competed in the 400-meter dash prelims and notched a third-place finish with a time of 58.83. Her time not only earned her All-New England honors, but she set a new personal record topping her previous best set back in May. With her strong finish today, Encarnacao qualified for the 400-meter dash finals set for tomorrow. 
  • Lombardi raced in the 5k race and crossed the finish line in sixth place at 18:28.31. In each event she has competed in this year, Lombardi has not finished outside the top-15 in each of the three races she has competed in.

Other Performances:

  • Isabella Kennedy also raced in the 5k with Lombardi and finished in 12th place with a time of 19:46.15. It marked Kennedy's first time competing in the event this season but all her other races she has raced in, Kennedy has finished within the top-20 three out of the four meets. 
  • In field events, Abigail Larsson competed in the pole vault for a 13th place finish with a height of 3.20 meters. Her new mark set a career-high for Larson which topped her previous best (3.05 meters) set back in January at the URI Coaches Tribute Meet. Larson has placed within the top-10 in each of the three events she partook in this year.
