Gannon Earns All-Conference Honors On Final Day of NE10 Indoor Championship

ROXBURY, Mass. (February 25, 2022)- On the final day of the Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Championship at the Reggie Lewis Center, Casey Gannon ended up earning All-Conference honors for her top-three finish in the 60-meter hurdles. Ultimately, the Stonehill College women's indoor track team ended up with a fourth-place finish (73) points. American International College ended up winning the title with 132 points, Southern New Hampshire came in second at 122 points, Franklin Pierce finished third (77 points), followed by Stonehill, and then Southern Connecticut State (67 points) to round out the top-five.

Highlights:

  • After a strong showing yesterday in the preliminaries (fifth-place 9.07 seconds), Gannon continued her momentum in the finals when she crossed the finish line in 9.06 seconds for a third-place finish. After setting a new personal best yesterday in the preliminaries, Gannon's time today ended up being a new career-best for the senior. Each time she competed in the 60-meter hurdles this season, Gannon posted a time under 9.50 seconds and always ended up within the top-10. 
  • Stonehill overall took the next two spots after Savanna Macaluso and Madison Rousseau notched fourth (9.07 seconds) and fifth (9.20 seconds) place finishes respectively which ultimately gave the Skyhawks 15 points. Macaluso tied her personal best with today's run whereas Rousseau overtook her personal record (9.27 seconds) set yesterday during the first day of the Indoor Championship.
  • During the mile run, Jillian Howard ended up with a top-five finish (fourth) with a time of 5:10.22 and gave Stonehill five points too. It is the second time this season Howard has posted a time of 5:20.00 or lower in the event. 
  • In the 400-meter, Kaytlin Encarnacao ended up with another Skyhawk top-five finish (fourth) at 58.33 seconds and came away with five more points for the Skyhawks. In her last four races in the 400-meter, Encarnacao has posted a sub-one-minute time. 
  • For the 4x400-meter relay, Stonehill grabbed fourth place at 04:02.91. Encarnacao (59.4), Gannon (1:01.2), Rousseau (1:01.6), and Ashley Warren (1:00.7) represented Stonehill in the event and helped the squad earn another key five points for the day. 

Other Performances:

  • Krista Stracqualursi and Kaley Enright both had strong showings in shot-put with two top-10 finishes. Stracqualursi grabbed the seven spot with a toss of 11.14 meters. Each meet this season, Stracqualursi has had throws over 11.00 meters. Not far behind, was Enright with an eighth-place finish after she a had throw of 11.03 meters. Not only was today's throw her NE10 Indoor Championship debut, but it was also her first time partaking in shot-put in her collegiate career. 
  • The 3,000-meter race saw three Stonehill runners notch three top-15 finishes. Howard had a time of 10:39.84 for a seventh-place finish, Victoria Lombardi was only a couple spots back in ninth at 10:44.00, and rounding out the top-15 for the Skyhawks was Jillian Callahan in 12th place with a season-best time of 11:15.80. 
  • Caroline Surrette posted a top-ten finish in the 800-meter with a solid time of 2:29.07. In each meet she has competed in this year, Surrette has always finished with a time under 2:30 in the 800-meter.
