Women's Tennis Downed, 7-0, by Conference Foe Saint Francis

LAKEVILLE, Mass. (March 16, 2024) – Saint Francis University swept the Stonehill College women's tennis team at the Lakeville Athletic Club, 7-0, Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Skyhawks fall to 2-15 overall and 1-3 against conference Northeast Conference opponents, while the Red Flash improve to 8-9 overall and 3-0 in conference play.

Highlights

  • Sophomore Anneliese Beltran and first-year student Julie Holte combined for their team-leading 11th doubles win of the season.
  • Freshman Diana Zuba, sophomore Kelly Dowuona, and senior Marie Discini highlighted Saint Francis as double winners on the day.
  • Senior Nagisa Miyake, freshman Reagan Mangan, and freshman Sara Jankovic also earned singles triumphs of their own for the Red Flash.

How It Happened

  • Beltran and Holte won the lone match of the day for Stonehill at No. 1 doubles against Mangan and Jankovic, 7-6 (8-7).
  • Zuba and Dowuona paired up to defeat the first-year duo of Madison Warren and Alice Brito do Rio at No. 2 doubles, 6-1.
  • Discini and first-year student Gretta Rhodes clinched the doubles point for Saint Francis after taking down junior Jenna Gustafson and sophomore Camila Zuluaga Rodriguez, 6-2, at the No. 3 slot. 
  • The Red Flash went on to sweep all six matches of singles competition to secure a 7-0 match victory over the Skyhawks.
