Women's Tennis Falls to Providence College, 5-2

WARWICK, R.I. (February 17, 2024) – The Stonehill College women's tennis team fell on the road to Providence College, 5-2, on Saturday. With the loss, the Skyhawks drop to 1-8 overall, while the Friars improve to 1-5 on the year.

Highlights

  • Sophomore Anneliese Beltran and freshman Madison Warrenhighlighted the Skyhawks on Saturday as double winners.
  • Beltran and Warren teamed up at the No. 1 doubles slot to defeat postgrad duo Vannelie Melendez and Liria Loria, 6-0.
  • Beltran followed up her performance in doubles competition with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) victory at No. 1 singles over freshman Camila Barrera Aguirre.
  • Warren capped off her second double-win of the spring season with a breeze at No. 2 singles, only dropping a game in a 6-0, 6-1 decision over Melendez.
  • Junior Jenna Gustafson nearly earned a third point for Stonehill at No. 6 singles, battling freshman Erika Beltran Beckley to a tie-breaking third set.
  • However, the set would be decided at 13-11 in favor of Beltran Beckley, as she would seal the 5-2 match victory for Providence.
