Women's Tennis Drops 6-1 Decision to Wagner

BRONX, N.Y. - (September 15, 2023) – Stonehill College women's tennis dropped a 6-1 decision to Wagner College at the Fordham Invitational in the Bronx, N.Y., Friday morning.

Highlights

  • Sophomore Anneliese Beltran and first-year student Julie Holte combined to earn their first double's victory of the season with their 6-4 win at No. 1.
  • Junior Marissa Such picked up her first singles win in three sets for the Skyhawks.  
  • Senior Gabrielle Perraudin and first-year student Dariana Vera were double-winners to lead Wagner. Perraudin dropped just a single game across her singles and doubles wins for the day as the duo helped the Seahawks clinch the doubles point with their 6-2 win at No. 2.
  • Junior Paula Ysabelle Uy and sophomore Jasmine Lin clinched the doubles point for Wagner with their 7-6 (6-3) win at No. 3.

How It Happened

  • Wagner won the doubles point, 2-1, with Uy and Lin clinching it with their 7-6 (6-3) win at No. 3 after Perraudin and Vera swept their way to the win at No. 2.
  • The Seahawks won five of six singles matches to pull out the decision, as Wagner dropped just two games in total in their wins at No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 singles that clinched the victory.
  • First-year student Madison Warren put up a valiant effort in No. 3 singles, eventually falling in three sets to Tara Dakic 3-6, 6-4, 9-11.
  • Such picked up the lone singles victory for the Skyhawks, defeating Lin in No. 6 over three sets 7-6 (7-4), 2-6, 13-11.
