EASTON, Mass. (July 30, 2020) – The Northeast-10 Conference Champion Stonehill College women's tennis program has been recognized for its efforts in the classroom with All-Academic Team status from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for the second-straight year, while a program-record matching six Skyhawks earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status.

Stonehill earns ITA All-Academic Team status for the second-straight year and third time overall after recording a team cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or above for the 2019-20 academic year. The Skyhawks are among 129 NCAA Division II institutions to earn All-Academic status from the ITA, including one of five from the NE10. Additionally, a program-record matching six from the Stonehill team have earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status for having a grade point average of 3.50 or higher over the academic year, which is among 762 in Division II overall, including 32 from the NE10, matching the program-best total set in 2015-16.

Earning ITA Scholar-Athlete honors from Stonehill are recent graduates Annelise Howick, Caroline Ray, Anastasiya Shyianok and Alexandra Vo and rising juniors Emma Markaryan and Samantha Ormesher.

Howick, who recently graduated with a 3.60 cumulative grade point average as a health science major, earns ITA Scholar-Athlete status for the second-straight year and third time overall. The NE10 Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award recipient and NE10 Academic All-Conference member has received the Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award two years. She has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll all eight semesters, receiving Academic Excellence status this spring for having a perfect 4.0 semester GPA and Academic Distinction status three semesters for having a semester GPA between 3.50 and 3.99. Howick has been inducted to Lambda Epsilon Sigma honor society and named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll four semesters.

Howick is a two-time All-NE10 performer for Stonehill, helping the Skyhawks to NE10 regular season championships and NCAA Tournament bids all four years and NE10 Tournament titles as a junior and senior. She finished her career ranked No. 7 in the Oracle/ITA Division II East Region doubles rankings with freshman partner Cristina Solorzano Valencia, with the duo reaching the semifinals of the USTA/ITA Division II East Regional back in September. Howick and Solarzano Valencia earned All-NE10 second team honors this past spring at No. 2 doubles, posting a 15-3 record overall, including 7-1 in the NE10. Howick finished her career with a 50-36 career combined record in singles and doubles play, including a 41-26 career mark in doubles play, with a 20-8 NE10 record. She was also named to the All-NE10 first team with Vo in 2017, earning a regional doubles ranking of No. 10 by the ITA.

Ray, who recently graduated with a 3.39 cumulative grade point average as a health care administration major at Stonehill, earns ITA Scholar-Athlete status for the first time. She has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll five semesters, with Academic Distinction status the last two semesters for having a semester GPA between 3.50 and 3.99, being named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll three semesters.

Ray is a two-time All-NE10 performer over the course of her career, helping Stonehill to NE10 regular season championships and NCAA Tournament bids all four years and NE10 Tournament titles as a junior and senior. She earned All-NE10 third team honors at No. 3 doubles last fall along with freshman playing partner Steffi Antao, with the duo finishing the 2019 season with a 7-2 record overall, including 4-1 in the NE10. Ray posted an overall doubles record of 10-4 with four different playing partners last fall, to go with a 4-1 singles mark (3-0 NE10), to finish her career with a combined record of 52-21 in singles and doubles play over her career, including a 20-9 singles record (14-2 NE10) and 32-12 in doubles (20-2 NE10).

Shyianok, who recently graduated with a 3.76 cumulative grade point average as a management major at Stonehill, earns ITA Scholar-Athlete for the second-straight year. She has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll all four semesters since transferring to Stonehill from Kozminski University in Warsaw, Poland, receiving Academic Distinction status each term for having a semester GPA between 3.50 and 3.99, and being named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll all four semesters as well. She received the St. Thomas Aquinas, Patron Saint of Students, Medal this spring for having the highest cumulative GPA on the women's tennis team and has also received the Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award.

Shyianok finished her two-year career for Stonehill with a 2-3 singles record, including 2-1 in the NE10. She was a member of back to back NE10 regular season and tournament championship winning teams, reaching the NCAA Tournament as a junior.

Vo, who recently graduated with a 3.23 cumulative grade point average while majoring in environmental engineering, is named an ITA Scholar-Athlete for the second-straight year. Named the Fr. William Gartland, CSC, Senior Female Athlete Award recipient this spring, Vo is the ITA East Region Senior Player of the Year and a six-time All-NE10 performer over her career. She has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll multiple semesters, including Academic Distinction status the last two semesters for having a semester GPA between 3.50 and 3.99, and Athletic Director's Honor Roll status multiple semesters.

Vo, who helped lead Stonehill to NE10 regular season championships and NCAA Tournament bids all four years and NE10 Tournament titles as a junior and senior, finished her career ranked No. 10 in the Oracle/ITA Division II East Region singles rankings and reached the quarterfinals of the USTA/ITA Division II East Region singles championship as a senior after advancing to the round of 16 the two previous years. She is a two-time NE10 All-Championship team selection, earning Most Outstanding Player accolades as a senior in leading the Skyhawks to their second-straight tournament title. The 2016 NE10 Rookie of the Year posted a combined 14-4 record in singles and doubles play this past season, including 14-2 in singles play (8-0 NE10), wrapping up her career a perfect 40-0 record in NE10 singles matches over the course of her career. Vo was 53-15 in singles and posting a career combined record of 92-46 in singles and doubles play, overall, including a combined 66-10 in the NE10.

Markaryan, who has earned a 3.41 cumulative grade point average as an English major at Stonehill, earns ITA Scholar-Athlete honors for the first time in her career. She has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll all four semesters to date, with Academic Distinction status the last two terms for having a semester GPA between 3.50 and 3.99, with Athletic Director's Honor Roll all four semesters as well.

Markaryan is a two-time All-NE10 first team performer over her first two years at Stonehill, earning the honors at No. 4 singles last fall. She has also been named to the NE10 All-Championship team two-straight years and was an NE10 All-Rookie Team performer as a freshman. Markaryan finished her sophomore season with a 16-4 combined record in singles and doubles play, including 14-3 in singles play (9-1 NE10) to go with a 2-1 doubles mark (2-0 NE10). She is a combined 32-11 in singles and doubles play over her first two seasons, including a 28-8 singles (19-1) record.

Ormesher, a biology major with a 3.71 cumulative grade point average at Stonehill, earns ITA Scholar-Athlete honors for the second-straight year. The NE10 Academic All-Conference selection has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll all four semesters, with Academic Distinction status three semesters for having a semester GPA between 3.50 and 3.99. She has also been named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll all four semesters as well.

Ormesher, named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2018 NE10 Championship, is a three-time All-NE10 performer after earning third team honors at No. 1 doubles with junior Isabelle Porter last fall. She earned first team All-NE10 honors at No. 3 singles as a freshman, to go with second team accolades at No. 2 doubles with Vo, while being named to the NE10 All-Rookie Team. She finished her sophomore season a combined 16-11 in singles and doubles play, including a 9-5 singles mark (5-3 NE10) to go with a 7-6 doubles mark (7-3 NE10). Ormesher is a combined 40-25 in singles and doubles play over her first two years at Stonehill, including 21-12 in singles (14-5 NE10), with a 19-13 doubles mark (16-5).

Stonehill finished its 2019-20 season with a 12-3 record overall, including 9-1 in the NE10 to claim a share of its tenth regular season championship, winning the NE10 Tournament for the second-straight year and seventh time in program history. The Skyhawks clinched the NE10's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament this spring, which would have been the program's sixth-straight NCAA bid and 14th in program history overall. Stonehill's 2020 fall season has been suspended to the spring, with additional information on the spring semester to be announced at a later date.
