EASTON, Mass. (October 5, 2019) – Southern New Hampshire University handed Stonehill College, ranked No. 4 in the Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II East Region rankings, its first Northeast-10 Conference regular season loss since 2016 with a 4-3 decision in women's tennis action on Charles Watt Tennis Courts this afternoon.

Sophomore Elizabeth Dwyer provided the match-clinching point for Southern N.H., with her 7-5, 6-2 triumph over Stonehill freshman Laura Jaegerhuber at No. 6 singles. Dwyer was among three double-winners for the Penmen, who halted Stonehill's 30-match winning streak in NE10 regular season matches that dated back to a 5-4 setback at Adelphi University on October 9, 2016. It's the Skyhawks first NE10 regular season home defeat since another 5-4 loss to Adelphi on October 12, 2015 – a string of 22-straight wins.

Dwyer and freshman Isabella Andrade clinched a sweep of the three doubles matches earlier with their 7-6 (7-5) decision at No. 3. Andrade was also a double-winner for SNHU, posting a 7-5, 6-2 decision at No. 5 singles against Stonehill sophomore Samantha Ormesher. Freshman Magdalena Hubickova rounded out the Penmen double-winners with victories at No. 1 singles and doubles.

After SNHU swept the three doubles matches to take the point after doubles play, freshman Steffi Antao and sophomore Emma Markaryan registered wins at No. 3 and 4 singles, respectively, to push Stonehill in front. Antao defeated SNHU sophomore Alexxa Etienne, 6-0, 6-3, with Markaryan following with a 6-3, 6-4 decision over freshman Mina Hogue.

Senior Alexandra Vo forged a 3-3 deadlock after the next two singles points went in SNHU's favor, posting a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles against freshman Selin Seyfettinoglu.

Stonehill (6-1, 6-1 NE10) is right back in action tomorrow, when it visits Bentley University for an NE10 dual match on the campus of Brandeis University at noon. The Skyhawks return home on Friday, October 11, to host University of District of Columbia at 11 a.m. Southern New Hampshire (7-1, 6-1 NE10) hosts Saint Michael's College on Sunday at 1 p.m.
