EASTON, Mass. (September 27, 2011) – Stonehill College senior Leah White (Walpole, Mass./Bishop Feehan) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week for women's tennis by the league office this afternoon.

White earns the weekly award for the first time in her career after leading Stonehill to a 9-0 Northeast-10 Conference sweep of Franklin Pierce in its first dual match of the year on Sunday. She was a double winner for the Skyhawks as she teamed up with classmate Amy Toegemann (Narragansett, R.I./The Lincoln School) for an 8-2 triumph at No. 1 doubles and then followed up with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Franklin Pierce sophomore Natasha McCarthy at No. 1 singles.

White is a combined 2-2 in singles and doubles play early in her senior season for Stonehill. She has split her two singles matches, falling in the second round of the A-championship singles bracket at the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional the week prior after receiving a first round bye. White and Toegemann have also combined to split two doubles matches, falling in the second round of the B doubles bracket after earning a first round bye.

White, who won the B singles bracket at the ITA East Regional in 2009, is a combined four time All-Northeast-10 Conference selection in singles and doubles play. The 2008 NE-10 Freshman of the Year earned first team All-Conference honors as a freshman and second team honors her junior year at No. 3 singles. She is also a two time second team All-Conference selection at No. 2 doubles, also winning the B doubles bracket at the 2010 ITA East Regional with sophomore Kaitlyn Martin (Medway, Mass./Medway) who she also teamed up with to win the B flight doubles title at the Salve Regina Grass Courts Invitational at the International Tennis Hall of Fame the week before.

White has posted a combined career record of 88-26 (.772), including a 42-11 (.793) clip in singles play and a 48-17 (.739) career mark in doubles play. In Northeast-10 play, White has posted a 27-2 (.931) career record in singles play and 27-3 (.900) doubles clip. She is 4-0 in her career at No. 1 singles after Sunday's win.
