Men's Tennis Earns ITA All-Academic Team Honors

ITA Announces Division II All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes

EASTON, Mass. (July 29, 2020) – The Stonehill College men's tennis program has been named one of 95 programs in NCAA Division II, including four from the Northeast-10 Conference, to earn All-Academic Team status from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), while four student-athletes have received ITA Scholar-Athlete status for recording a grade point average over 3.50 for the academic year.

Stonehill receives ITA All-Academic Team status for posting a team grade point average of 3.20 or above for the 2019-20 academic year. The Skyhawks receive the honors for the first time, led by recent graduates Manu Ravichandrakumar and Samuel Miller, as well as rising seniors Joey Conrod and Aleksander Lazowski who all earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status. The four Skyhawks are among 593 from Division II, including 20 from the NE10, to receive the honors after posting a GPA of 3.50 or above over the academic year.

Ravichandrakumar, who recently graduated with a 3.79 cumulative GPA as a dual major in computer science and economics, posted a perfect 4.0 semester GPA both semesters and earns ITA Scholar-Athlete status for the second-straight year. He has received the St. Thomas Aquinas, Patron Saint of Students, Medal two straight years for having the highest cumulative grade point average on the team and has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll all eight semesters, including his pair of Academic Excellence status honors for having a 4.0 semester GPA, to go with a pair of Academic Distinction recognitions for a semester GPA between 3.50 and 3.99. Ravichandrakumar has also received the Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award two-straight years and Athletic Director's Honor Roll all eight semesters.

Ravichandrakumar, an NE10 All-Rookie Team selection as a freshman, earned NE10 Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career in March. He posted a combined record of 8-7 in singles and doubles play during his shortened senior season, including a 2-3 record in singles play, to go with a 6-4 doubles record with five different playing partners. He finished his career with a combined record of 46-50 in singles and doubles play, including a 19-24 singles mark, including 7-11 in the NE10, with a 27-26 doubles record, including 8-11 in the NE10.

Conrod, a health science major with a 3.65 cumulative GPA at Stonehill, also earns ITA Scholar-Athlete status for the second-straight year. He received the athletic department's Spring Junior Achievement Award and received the Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award as a sophomore. Conrod has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll all six semesters to date, with Academic Distinction status four-straight semesters with a semester GPA between 3.50 and 3.99, while being named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll six semesters as well.

Conrod finished Stonehill's shortened 2019-20 season with a 3-5 doubles record with three different playing partners, including a 3-2 mark with senior Aaron Diamond. He enters his senior season having posted a career combined record of 18-18, including an 18-15 doubles mark (3-1 NE10).

Miller, who recently graduated from Stonehill with a 3.29 cumulative grade point average as an environmental science major, earns ITA Scholar-Athlete status for the first time. He has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll three semesters since transferring from Saint Francis (Pa.) University after his sophomore year, with Academic Distinction status the last two semesters for having a semester GPA between 3.50 and 3.99, while earning a spot on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll three semesters.

Miller posted a combined record of 11-3 in singles and doubles play in Stonehill's shortened season, including 4-1 in singles matches and a 7-2 doubles mark with three different playing partners, including a 4-0 mark with freshman Christian Duffy, with whom he won the B-Flight doubles bracket at the season-opening Stonehill Doubles Invitational last fall. Miller finished his two-year career at Stonehill with a combined singles and doubles record of 36-24, including a 15-12 singles record and 21-12 in doubles play. Miller and Trent Newman earned All-NE10 third team honors in 2019 at No. 1 doubles.

Lazowski, a marketing major with a 3.43 cumulative grade point average after posting a perfect 4.0 GPA for the spring semester, earns ITA Scholar-Athlete honors for the first time. He has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll all six semesters, with Academic Excellence status for his 4.0 semester GPA this spring and Academic Distinction status one semester for having a semester GPA between 3.50 and 3.99. Lazowski has also been named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll six semesters.

Lazowski enters his senior year with a combined record of 16-12 in singles and doubles play, including a 15-12 doubles mark.

Stonehill finished its 2019-20 season with a 6-4 record overall, including 4-0 at home. The Skyhawks will return to action after the New Year following the College's and NE10's announcement to suspend intercollegiate athletic competition through December 31.
