Men's Tennis Bounces Back Against West Chester, 5-2

Simmons leads three double-winners for Skyhawks

TAMPA, Fla. (March 10, 2020) – Stonehill College got back in the win column with a 5-2 victory over West Chester (Pa.) University in non-conference men's tennis action at the University of Tampa Tennis Courts today. 

How it Happened

  • Seniors Aaron Diamond and Manu Ravichandrakumar, along with freshman Ben Simmons were all double-winners for Stonehill.
  • Simmons and Ravichandrakumar helped Stonehill clinch the doubles point with their 6-2 decision at No. 2 doubles. Simmons won the match-clinching point for the Skyhawks with his 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 6 singles against West Chester freshman Christoph Baroudi.
  • Ravichandrakumar posted a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 5 singles against sophomore Noah DeCampo.
  • Diamond teamed up with junior Joey Conrod for a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles for Stonehill. Diamond followed that up with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles against sophomore Brett Spano.
  • Sophomore Vincent Huynh also earned a point for Stonehill with his win at No. 2 singles, while sophomore Juan Camilo Riano Rojas and freshman Christian Duffy combined for a win at No. 1 doubles.
  • Freshman Andre Zequeira and sophomore Chris Succi earned points for West Chester with their wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively.

Stonehill (6-3, 0-0 NE10) returns to action on Thursday, with a match against The College of Wooster at the USTA National Center at 3 p.m. The Skyhawks next home match is its Northeast-10 Conference opener against Assumption College on Sunday, March 22, at 1 p.m. West Chester (2-5, 0-0 PSAC) returns to the courts against Eastern University next Wednesday, March 18, at 3:30 p.m.
