White Earns NE10 Player of the Week Honors

EASTON, Mass. (February 11, 2020) – Stonehill College junior Russell White has been named the Northeaast-10 Conference Player of the Week for men's tennis by the league office today.

White led four double-winners for Stonehill as it opened its spring schedule with a 6-1 win over Clark University on Sunday. He teamed up with senior Samuel Miller to lead a sweep of the three doubles matches for the Skyhawks with a 6-2 win at the top flight. White followed that up with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles against Clark junior Christian Ruebens.

White, who has earned NE10 Player of the Week honors for the third time in his career, is a combined 14-3 record in singles and doubles play this season, posting a 6-1 singles record and 8-2 doubles mark with two different playing partners. He 3-0 at No. 3 singles to go with his win at No. 2 singles on Sunday, while he and classmate Trent Newman have teamed up for a 7-2 mark, reaching the Round of 16 at the USTA/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional Doubles Championship in the fall. White also advanced to the second round of the ITA East Regional singles championship as well, winning the A-Flight Championship at the Stonehill Doubles Invitational, along with Newman.

White, an NE10 All-Rookie Team selection as a freshman, has posted a combined 62-39 record in singles and doubles play over his career. He is 28-17 for singles, including a 9-6 mark in the NE10, to go with a 34-22 career doubles record, including 8-7 in the NE10.

Stonehill (4-0, 0-0 NE10) returns to action on Sunday, February 23, when it hosts Wheaton (Mass.) College for a non-conference dual match inside the Sally Blair Ames Sports Complex at 1 p.m.
