Bolster breaks open 1-1 tie in second half, White nets two to close out contest
FLUSHING, N.Y. (September 10, 2011) – The Stonehill College men's soccer team scored three unanswered goals in the second half to earn a 4-1 triumph over Queens (N.Y.) on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
Junior forward Anthony Campagnano (Schenectady, N.Y./Guilderland) gave the Skyhawks an early 1-0 lead at 18:25 of the first half blasting a shot past Demetrios Touros (Bellerose, N.Y./Long Island City) from 12-yards out into the lower left corner of the net on Christopher Agan's (Niskayuna, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) long throw in.
At 37:47 of the first half, Santiago Bedoya (E. Elmhurst, N.Y./Info Tech) responded for the Knights putting home a cross from teammate Peter Touros (Bellerose, N.Y./Long Island City) from 15-yards away behind Stonehill keeper Eric Schott (Canadaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) to make it 1-1.
In the second half it was all Skyhawks as Mark Bolster (Narragansett, R.I./Narragansett) and Michael White (Lisbon, N.H./Lisbon Regional) combined for three unanswered goals.
Bolster broke open the 1-1 tie in the 52nd minute heading in a cross from Ross McWilliams (Kingston, R.I./South Kingstown) inside the right post for his first goal of the season.
At 74:45, White capitalized on a deflection off of a free kick sniping a shot past D. Touros from about 19-yards out for a 3-1 advantage and his second marker of the season.
Less than a minute later (75:42), White netted a penalty kick chance to push the score to 4-1.
Schott (1-1) made two saves in net while his counterpart, D. Touros, turned away three shots.
Stonehill outshot Queens (N.Y.) 16-9 in the contest and tied in corners with four apiece.
The Skyhawks (2-1, 0-0 NE-10) return to action on Tuesday, September 13 in a Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) match-up starting at p.m.
