Stonehill Makes 14th Appearance In NE-10 Tournament Vs. Franklin Pierce

#8 Skyhawks to face #1 Ravens in NE-10 first round on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

EASTON, Mass. (October 31, 2011) – Eighth-seeded Stonehill College will participate in the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) Men's Soccer Tournament for the second-consecutive season and 14th time in program history when it plays first-seeded Franklin Pierce University, ranked #2 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) National poll, in first round action at Larkin Field in Manchester, N.H. on the campus of Southern New Hampshire University on Tuesday, November 1 at 7 p.m.

Admission for Tuesday's game is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for senior citizens and children and $1.00 for students. The winner of Tuesday's game will advance to Friday's semifinal round against the winner of #5 Merrimack (9-6-3, 7-5-1 NE-10) and #4 Le Moyne (10-7-1, 9-4 NE-10) at the highest remaining seed.

Stonehill (10-8, 7-6 NE-10) has reached the NE-10 Tournament for the 14th time in program history clinching its first winning season since 1997 when the Skyhawks went 9-8-1 overall on the year. Stonehill also tied the program record for conference wins this fall which was set in 1990 (7-1-1). Offensively, Stonehill ranks fourth in the conference in goals (31), is tied for fifth in the league in goals per game (1.7) and is ninth in goals against average (1.39).

The Skyhawks have won the NE-10 championship twice in 1990 and 1991 and have made four trips to the semifinal round of the tournament. Last season, Stonehill fell to Southern Connecticut State University, 2-1, in the NE-10 Quarterfinal round on the road.

Senior Michael White leads Stonehill in
points with 25 on 10 goals and five
assist

Senior forward Michael White (Lisbon, N.H./Lisbon Regional) paces the Skyhawks offensively this season with a team-leading 25 points on 10 goals and five assists. White ranks second overall in the NE-10 in goals and points behind Chris Tsonis (Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth) of Southern New Hampshire University in both categories.

Classmate Mark Bolster (Narragansett, R.I./Narragansett) has played a pivotal role in Stonehill's offense this fall after starting in just four games through his first three seasons for the Skyhawks ranking second on the team in goals (nine) and points (21). Bolster has started in 16 out of 18 games and ranks fifth overall in the NE-10 in points.

In net, freshman goalkeeper Adam Colella (Wilmington, Mass./St. John's Prep.) has compiled a 1.30 goals against average in 1,380:43 minutes of play over 15 games (all starts) with 47 saves and four shutouts. Colella's 9-6-0 record ranks third in the NE-10.

Franklin Pierce (16-0-1, 12-0-1 NE-10) will look to repeat as NE-10 champions after defeating Bentley University, 1-0, in last year's final. The Ravens, ranked first in the most recent NCAA Division II East Regional rankings, have gone unbeaten in conference play over the last two seasons amassing a 28-0-2 record during that span.

Franklin Pierce ranks second in the NE-10 in goals (35) and goals against average (0.63) behind Southern New Hampshire University in both categories.
