Senior garners first Player of the Week award for Stonehill since 2008

Ross McWilliams became the
first player since 2008 to win a
NE-10 Player of the Week award
for Stonehill.

EASTON, Mass. (October 24, 2011) – Stonehill College senior midfielder and tri-captain Ross McWilliams (Kingston, R.I./South Kingstown) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) Player of the Week for the first time in his collegiate career by the league office, it was announced earlier today.

McWilliams led Stonehill to a 2-0 week overall scoring two goals, both game-winners, and one assist for five points in two games played. Against Saint Rose on Saturday, McWilliams potted the game-winner at 105:45 to lift the Skyhawks to their second consecutive win.

McWilliams also played a huge role in the Skyhawks first-ever win against Southern Connecticut State University in program history last Wednesday setting up senior forward Michael White (Lisbon, N.H./Lisbon Regional) on the game's first goal while scoring the eventual game-winner at 50:07.

McWilliams is the first Stonehill player to earn NE-10 Player of the Week accolades since Shaun Keeley (Woburn, Mass.) won it on September 22, 2008. Keeley scored three goals on the week, all against non-conference opponents.

Stonehill improved to 9-7-0 overall on the week, tying its mark for most wins in a season since 1997 (9-8-1), and 6-5-0 in the NE-10. The Skyhawks have two NE-10 regular season matches remaining on the schedule to break the school record for conference wins set in 1990 (7-1-1). In 1990, Stonehill won the regular season championship.

Stonehill travels to Saint Anselm on Tuesday, October 25 in a NE-10 matchup at 7:30 p.m.
