NEC Football Weekly Release

EASTON, Mass. (November 7, 2022) – Stonehill College junior running back Jermaine Corbett has earned Northeast Conference (NEC) Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season, the Conference announced this afternoon.

Corbett, who was also named an NEC Prime Performer for the third time this fall, led a Stonehill rushing attack that piled up a W.B. Mason Stadium record 399 yards on the ground as part of a Stadium record 617 total yards in Saturday's 50-10 victory over Wagner College. He posted a season-high 227 yards on 16 carries with a season-high matching three touchdowns, averaging 14.2 yards per carry in posting his third 100-yard rushing game of the season with the highest yardage total in the NEC this fall by surpassing 200 yards for the second time in his career. Corbett raced to touchdowns of 32, 59 and 74 yards in the Skyhawks second NEC win of the season.

Corbett's 74-yard touchdown run with 5:33 left in the third quarter gave Stonehill a 38-10 lead and marked the seventh-longest rush in W.B. Mason Stadium history, while his yardage total is the eighth-highest total in the Skyhawks home's history – the sixth-highest by a Stonehill player.

Corbett has played six of Stonehill's seven games in its inaugural NCAA Division I FCS season and leads the NEC with 122.5 rushing yards per game as the only player in the Conference averaging over 100-yards per game, while his eight rushing touchdowns are tied for second in the Conference. He is averaging 6.4 yards per carry, which tops all NEC running backs with at least 50 attempts, having totaled 735 yards on 115 carries. He also leads the NEC with 9.0 points per game, with his 54 points scored ranking sixth and nine total touchdowns tied for second. His 138.3 all-purpose yards per game also leads the NEC.

Corbett has appeared in 13 games over the last two seasons for Stonehill and surpassed 1,000 rushing yards on Saturday. He enters Saturday's game at LIU 235 yards shy of cracking the program's all-time career list with his 1,128 career rushing yards on 189 carries, while his ten career rushing touchdowns are four shy of the program's top ten list. Corbett, who also earned Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week accolades during his sophomore season, posted a career-high 254 yards on 31 carries with two touchdowns against Saint Anselm College last October.

Stonehill (4-3, 2-3 NEC) returns to action on Saturday, when it visits Long Island University in Brookville, New York, for an NEC matchup at 1 p.m. The Skyhawks return home the following Saturday, November 19, to close out its inaugural Division I season against Central Connecticut State University on Senior Day at W.B. Mason Stadium at 1 p.m.
