The Game
Stonehill College opens the month of November with a second-straight home game as it hosts Wagner College for a Northeast Conference matchup on Timothy J. Coughlin (COG-lin), '80 Memorial Field at W.B. Mason Stadium this afternoon. The Skyhawks are aiming to shake off a run of three-straight losses by an average of eight points, including last week's 17-10 setback to first place Merrimack College here at W.B. Mason Stadium on Homecoming Weekend. The Seahawks dropped a 34-7 decision at Central Connecticut State University last Saturday, a week removed from snapping a 26-game losing streak that dated back to 2019.

This afternoon's game is being presented live by SkyhawksVision on NEC Front Row with Charlie Bergeron ,in his 24th season as the Voice of the Skyhawks, calling the action directed by Matt Nelson. SAAC Canned Food Drive
The Stonehill Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is hosting a Food Drive for select home contests, starting with this afternoon's football game, to benefit the Stonehill College Food Pantry. SAAC will accept donations of the following: non-perishable foods, shelf-stable milks, granola and protein bars, mac and cheese, microwavable food packets, ready-to-eat soups or pastas, and $5/$10 Big Y or Shaw's giftcards. Stonehill SAAC will be collecting at the following events over the next five days:

• Saturday, Nov. 5 – Football vs. Wagner, 1 p.m. (W.B. Mason Stadium) & Volleyball vs. Sacred Heart, 5 p.m. (Merkert Gymnasium)
• Tuesday, Nov. 8 – Civic Engagement Day (All Day) Sally Blair Ames Sports Complex
• Thursday, Nov. 10 – Men's Basketball vs. Quinnipiac, 7 p.m. (Merkert Gymnasium)

Against the Seahawks
This afternoon marks the third meeting all-time between Stonehill and Wagner. The Skyhawks have won both of the previous meetings between the two, posting a 14-13 victory here at W.B. Mason Stadium on September 5, 2008, before adding a 45-42 triumph exactly one year later on Staten Island on September 5, 2009. Stonehill and Wagner combined for 49 second quarter points in the 2009 encouter, with Stonehill holding a 35-28 halftime lead after outscoring the Seahawks 28-21 in the second frame.Eddie Vachon '11 posted a career-high 215 all-purpose yards, incuding 192 rushing yards on 27 carries with three touchdowns, while All-American Stephan Neville '12 recorded a 91-yard kickoff return for a score in the second quarter.

Polling Information
Stonehill held at No. 8 in this week's New England Football Journal's Division I Top 16 for the third-straight week, the website announced. Holy Cross (9-0) remains atop the NEFBJ Top 16, with Merrimack the top NEC program at No. 3 behind New Hampshire. Sacred Heart (No. 10) and Central Connecticut State (No. 16) also represent the NEC in the rankings.

Jerry Rice Watch List
Stonehill sophomore quarterback Ashur Carraha (Cambridge, Mass.) is among 25 NCAA Division I FCS players named to the watch list for the 2022 Stats Perform Jerry Rice Award, presented to the national freshman of the year. Carraha, who is one of two from the NEC selected to the watch list, has earned NEC Rookie of the Week honors twice this season. The Rice Award, now in its 12th season, is named after legendary Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice. Past recipients include Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (Eastern Washington), Miami Dolphins running back Chase Edmonds (Fordham) and San Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance (North Dakota State). Carraha has started all four games for Stonehill at quarterback this fall and sits second in the NEC with 202.5 passing yards per game and an NEC-leading 158.6 pass efficiency rating. He has completed 78-of-130 passes (60%) for 936 yards and an NEC-leading ten touchdowns, with just three interceptions.

The Month to Shine
Stonehill has posted a 9-2 record in the month of November under head coach Eli Gardner. The Skyhawks won both November games in 2021 and 11 of their last 13.

Doing It's Job
Stonehill held Merrimack to 1-for-14 on third down on Saturday and the Warriors recorded just 33 passing yards for the afternoon, completing 3-of-17 passes. The Skyhawks rank second in the NEC for third down defense, limiting opponents to just 30.6-percent (26-for-85).

Power Offense
Through six games, Stonehill has produced the No. 2-ranked offense in the NEC with regards to scoring (30.5 ppg), total yards (372.3 yds/gm) and rushing (191.2 yds/gm). The Skyhawks are also ranked first in the NEC on third downs, converting at 42.5-percent, third on fourth down (60%) and fifth in passing offense (181.2 yds/gm), but second in offenseive efficiency (130.0).

Spread the Wealth
Ten different Skyhawks have scored touchdowns this season, with junior running back Jermaine Corbett (Long Branch, N.J.) leading the way with six. Six Stonehill players have scored their first career touchdowns this fall, including junior running back Tom Comella (Johnston, R.I.) with four total touchdowns.

Preseason Prognostications
Stonehill has been picked to finish eighth in the Northeast Conference preseason poll by the league's head coaches. Reigning NEC Champions Sacred Heart were picked to repeat this fall, earning five first place votes, followed by Duquesne in second with the remaining three first place votes. Following the Dukes are Saint Francis (Pa.) in third, Central Connecticut State in fourth, Merrimack fifth,  and then LIU and Wagner tied for sixth.

Aye, Aye, Captains
Stonehill head coach Eli Gardner and his coaching staff have named five captains for its inaugural Division I FCS season. Offensive linemen Joe Bastante and Thomas Walsh, along with tight end Cam Boes and defensive backs Masyn Lorick and Kevin Porch were voted to lead the Skyhawks for the 2022 season.

Stonehill hits the road for the final time in its inaugural Division I season next Saturday when it faces former NE10 foe LIU (formerly LIU Post for football) in Brookville, New York, for an NEC matchup at 1 p.m. The Skyhawks close out the 2022 season the following Saturday, November 19, by hosting Central Connecticut State University for Senior Day here at W.B.
