EASTON, Mass. (April 10, 2013) – The Stonehill College baseball team fell to the Bentley College Falcons in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup Wednesday afternoon at Lou Gorman Field on the campus of Stonehill College in Easton, Mass.

Senior Logan Gillis (Merrimack, N.H,/Lawrence Academy) went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored to lead the way for the Falcons. Freshman Evan Mondor (Rehoboth, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth) and senior Kevin Korwek (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) also posted multi-hits and RBIs for the Falcons.

Senior James DeAlto (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y./Briarcliff) paced the Stonehill offense with a 2-for-4 afternoon. Freshman designated hitter Brian Campbell (Franklin, Mass./Mount Saint Charles) registered the only RBI of the day for the Skyhawks on a groundout in the ninth.

The Falcons received a great outing from senior pitcher Lamarre Rey (Lynn, Mass./Pingree School). Rey pitched a complete game, yielding two runs on five hits and three walks. Rey collected six strikeouts to help him earn his first win of the season.

Freshman Mike Krupczak (Springfield, Mass./Cathedral) was saddled with the loss for Stonehill. Krupczak yielded five runs (four earned) on eight hits and two walks. The Skyhawks received scoreless relief appearances from freshman Patrick Nicholson (Middleboro, Mass./Middleboro) and sophomore Steve Pike (Stoughton, Mass./Catholic Memorial). Nicholson pitched an inning and a third of scoreless ball while Pike pitched a scoreless inning.

Bentley got the scoring started with three runs in the top of the third inning. With runners on first and second, Mondor hit an RBI-single to right field, plating the first run of the game. Gillis then hit a two-run single up the middle to give Bentley a 3-0 lead.

The Falcons added to their lead with a run in the fourth. Following back-to-back singles to lead off the inning, freshman Bryan Rocha (Rehoboth, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth) walked to load the bases. The next batter, Dante Pandovani (Lynnfield, Mass./Lynnfield), made it 4-0 when he hit a sacrifice fly to center field.

After Bentley added its fifth run in the fifth inning, Stonehill fought back in the sixth. After back-to-back walks by Anthony Pagano (Cranston, R.I./Cranston West) and Matt Anziano (Belchertown, Mass./Belchertown), the Skyhawks scored their first run when Chris Hoyt (Walpole, Mass./Xaverian Brothers) reached on an error by the pitcher. Rey retired the final two batters of the inning to escape the threat with just one run.

The Falcons responded by adding two runs in the seventh inning. With Mondor on third and Gillis on second following two singles and a groundout, Korwek singled home the sixth Falcon run. Will Brennan (Locust Valley, N.Y./Locust Valley) made it 7-1 when he singled home Gillis later in the inning.

Rey yielded a run in the ninth, but closed out the Skyhawks to earn his first win of the year.

The Skyhawks (17-12, 3-2 NE-10 NE) return to action Saturday afternoon when they travel to Vermont for double-header with Saint Michael's, beginning at 12:00 pm.
