Campbell, DeAlto, and Duff earn Third Team honors, while Campbell and Hoyt take home Second Team Awards
EASTON, Mass. (May 7, 2013) – Four members of the Stonehill College baseball team were honored with Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) All-Conference Awards Tuesday afternoon as voted by the league's 16 coaches.
Freshman Brian Campbell (Franklin, Mass./Mount Saint Charles), senior James DeAlto (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y./Briarcliff), and sophomore Jim Duff (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) were named to the All-Conference Third Team, while freshman Chris Hoyt (Walpole, Mass./Xaverian Brothers) and Campbell earned All-Rookie recognition.
Campbell posted great numbers for Stonehill during his inaugural season with the team. The freshman led the team in hitting, posting a .347 batting average (43-for-124), a .410 on-base percentage, and a .419 slugging percentage. Campbell belted seven extra-base hits, including five doubles and two triples. He also stole six bases, scored 18 runs, and earned 11 RBI for the Skyhawks on the year.
Campbell recorded several big hits for the Skyhawks during the year. The freshman posted three game-winning hits, including one walk-off hit for Stonehill. In Stonehill's 11-inning victory over Le Moyne College, Campbell hit a walk-off single through the right side to drive in the winning run for the Skyhawks.

DeAlto gave Stonehill stability throughout the entire season, both on the field and at the plate. The senior hit .306 (57-for-186) with eight doubles, one triple, 17 walks, a .367 on-base percentage, and a .360 slugging percentage. DeAlto led the team in stolen bases, with 15, and runs scored, with 33. The captain also posted a .963 fielding percentage, making just five errors in 134 total chances.
DeAlto's .367 on-base percentage ranked him second on the team. The captain reached base safely via hit or walk in 41 of the 45 games he played during the season. He also hit safely in 35 of the 45 games he played in, including 14 multi-hit games. DeAlto reached base in the final 18 games of the season, posting a 12-game hitting streak during that span.
Duff led the Skyhawks pitching staff during his sophomore campaign with the team. Duff went 4-4 with a 2.63 ERA and 61 strikeouts in 78.2 innings. The sophomore pitched three complete games, earning victories over the University of Bridgeport and Southern New Hampshire University and taking a loss to West Virginia Wesleyan College in those games.
Against Bridgeport, Duff gave up just three hits and struck out five batters in the nine-inning victory. Duff's best game of the season came in a 1-0 complete game victory over Southern New Hampshire. The sophomore struck out eight batters and took a perfect game into the sixth inning. He yielded his only hit of the game in the seventh inning.
Hoyt earned All-Rookie honors after posting a solid rookie season for the Skyhawks. The freshman hit .255 (38-for-149) with three doubles, two triples, one home run, and 15 RBI. Hoyt also registered seven stolen bases, 16 runs, a .311 on-base percentage, and a .322 slugging percentage. The freshman played primarily at second base, recording a .947 fielding percentage with nine errors in 170 total chances.
Hoyt posted 11 multi-hit games on the year, including a two-hit showing against the University of Bridgeport in which he hit a game-tying inside-the-park home run in the ninth-inning. The freshman also recorded three hits, two RBI, and scored two runs in Stonehill's 10-6 win over UMass Lowell on April 16th.
