Stonehill Announces 2012 Athletic Hall of Fame Information

Athletic Department to honor six individuals October 12

EASTON, Mass. (September 17, 2012) - Stonehill College is proud to announce the induction of three former student-athletes, a former coach, longtime administrator and former “Voice of Stonehill”  into its Athletic Hall of Fame during its annual induction ceremony on Friday, October 12.

The Stonehill Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2012 will be former student-athletes Dianna Chivakos, ’05, from the cross country and track and field program, Todd Dawson, ’93, from the football program as well as Joseph Kelly, ’85, from the baseball program. Former women’s basketball assistant and head coach Kelly Hart, senior associate director of athletics Cindy MacDonald and John Murphy, ’69, the “Voice of Stonehill” will also be inducted for their contributions to the athletic department.

The event will be held in the Martin Institute Auditorium, on the Stonehill campus, on Friday, October 12, with a cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner and the induction ceremony at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for $50.00 can be purchased by Monday, October 1, with Colleen Ford in the Department of Athletics at (508) 565-1384.

“The successes of our current student-athletes stand on the foundation set by the talented student-athletes that came before them,” said Brendan J. Sullivan, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics at Stonehill. “This year’s Hall of Fame inductees all contributed to the success of Stonehill athletics in their own unique, inspiring, and memorable way. On behalf of our current student-athletes, I thank them for advancing our shared tradition of athletic excellence and I look forward to honoring them.”

The event will kick off a full weekend of events at the College with men’s soccer hosting Le Moyne College on Saturday at 11 a.m. Football hosts Merrimack College for Senior Day at noon, while field hockey wraps up the weekend with a Northeast-10 Conference matchup with Adelphi University on Sunday at 1 p.m.
