Krupczak Named NE-10 Rookie of the Week

EASTON, Mass. (February 25, 2013) – Freshman Mike Krupczak (Springfield, Mass./Cathedral) was named Rookie of the Week by the Northeast-10 Conference, it was announced Monday afternoon.

Krupczak, a freshman pitcher for the Stonehill baseball team, earns the first conference award of his collegiate career following a successful week at the Ripken Experience Northeast Challenge in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Krupczak earned a 1-0 record in two appearances for the Skyhawks this weekend. The freshman pitched one and two-thirds innings and was credited with the win in his collegiate debut Saturday afternoon against Felician College.  He gave up three hits and one run while striking out three batters in the outing.

The Springfield, Mass. native started his first game Sunday afternoon against Mercyhurst College. Krupczak went five innings giving up five hits and two runs. The freshman also recorded five strikeouts in the outing.

With the hot start, the Skyhawks moved up two spots to third place in the NCBWA East Region Poll. Stonehill (4-1) returns to action Saturday afternoon when the team travels to Florida to take on Felician College.
