Stonehill SB Finishes 2023 Season against CCSU

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (April 29, 2023) – The Skyhawks close out their inaugural NCAA Division I season with a match-up against Central Connecticut State University at CCSU Softball Field this afternoon. The Skyhawks finished their 2023 season with a loss against CCSU by a mercy score of 0-8 and finished with an overall record of (4-42) & a conference record of (2-19).

Standout Performances:

Game One: CCSU 8, Stonehill 0 (5 innings)

  • In the top of the third inning, left fielder Alexa Adinolfi hit a single into center field, hoping to make it home, but was cut short by the CCSU defense.
  • Looking to turn the hitting back on for the Skyhawks, in the top of the fourth inning, third basemen Shannon Conte hit a great ball down the left line, earning a double for Stonehill. Still in the top of the third, pinch runner, Maeve Proulx stepped in for Conte. Centerfielder Megan Weis was up to bat, getting walked to first, and advancing to second on a passed ball, with Proulx also advancing to third, hoping to make it home but earned the third out shortly after.
  • In the bottom of the second and fourth inning, the Skyhawks had '3 up, 3 down' which moved the game along quickly and stopped the Blue Devil offense from scoring during that time.
  • Pitcher Skylar Brandemarte pitched 18 strikes with 2 strikeouts, with Kelly Mayette stepping into the circle during the bottom of the fifth, throwing 6 strikes to close out the game.
  • All eight Central Connecticut State runs came from singles, doubles, triples, and home runs, as well as 8 RBIs for the Blue Devils.
