EASTON, Massachusetts (May 10, 2021) – Fifth-seeded Stonehill College is set to make its 17th appearance in the Northeast-10 Conference baseball tournament when it visits fourth-seeded Assumption University for a first round game tomorrow at 3 p.m.

Stonehill (17-14, 12-12 NE10) is competing in its 17th NE10 Tournament in program history and will be returning after a six-year hiatus, last appearing in 2015. The Skyhawks ended the season splitting the four-game series with Bentley University earning victories with scores of 7-1 and 7-6.

Assumption (11-10, 11-10 NE10), will be making its 13th NE10 Tournament appearance, as they are set to make their first appearance since 2016. The Greyhounds ended the season splitting the series against No. 11 Southern New Hampshire University taking the doubleheader on day two with scores of 2-1 and 10-5.

The winner of tomorrow afternoon's matchup will advance to the second round on Thursday, May 13th in a single elimination game traveling to face the top-seeded Southern New Hampshire University (19-5, 19-5 NE10).

Earlier in the season, the Skyhawks and Greyhounds faced off on Lou Gorman Field where the series was split 2-2. Assumption took the first two games with scores of 9-2 and 4-0, but then Stonehill bounced back on Sunday and won with scores of 5-4 and 7-2.

For the Skyhawks, sophomore Conor Kiely leads the team with a .402 batting average, while junior Noah Lucier is second on the team with a .340 batting clip. Kiely also leads the team with 21 RBI with freshman Graham Herrick not far behind him with 19. Both Kiely and senior John Orzechowski lead the Conference with 18 stolen bases.

On the mound, senior Michael White and senior Luke Marshall have only been getting better as the season has progressed. White has been averaging 9.92 strikeouts per nine innings with a 3-2 record and Marshall is not far behind him with 9.55 strikeouts per nine innings with a 2-2 mark.

The Greyhounds have Connor Wironen leading the way at the plate with a .361 batting average and Matt Schneider is close behind with a .344 batting clip. R.J. Libby has driven in a team high 22 RBI, while Schneider has tallied 15 on the year.

On the bump for Assumption, Brendan Desautels is third in the Conference averaging 13.71 strikeouts per nine innings with a record of 4-1, while Cole Chudoba is 12th averaging 10.93 per nine innings with a 3-1 mark.
