Bentley Comes From Behind for 6-5 Win Over Baseball

EASTON, Massachusetts (April 14, 2021) – The Stonehill College baseball team (8-8, 5-7 NE10), receiving votes in the NCBWA East Region rankings and No. 4 in the NEIBA week two rankings fell to Northeast-10 Conference foe Bentley University (10-3, 9-3 NE10), who is ranked No. 3 in the NEIBA Week two rankings and No. 6 in the NCBWA East Region rankings, in non-conference play Wednesday afternoon on Lou Gorman Field.

Lidsky went 3-for-5, RBI, 2 runs scored, 2 doubles, and a stolen base

Stonehill put three quick runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning, after the Falcons left one runner on base in the top of the frame. With runners on first and second, Lidsky tallied his first of two doubles of the game, bringing around Conor Kiely from second, 1-0. On a wild pitch, John Orzechowski scored, 2-0, and with Herrick's ground out to second, Lidsky tallied the third run, 3-0.

Duarte's RBI single to left field in the bottom of the third with two outs, scored Kiely after he reached base by getting hit at the plate, 4-0. The Falcons got out of the inning, after Stonehill threatened with runners on second and third.

The Falcons three runs in the top of the fifth off of three hits, cut the deficit to one, 4-3. With one out, Tim Zupkus' single to left field advanced Joe Cacciatore to third, as Halloran reached on a fielder's choice bringing home Cacciatore. Steve Rizzuto then connected for a two-run homerun over the left field fence. In the bottom of the frame, Stonehill doubled their lead, 5-3, with an RBI single to shortstop, scoring Lidsky who tallied his second double of the game with one out.

Bentley held off Stonehill for four innings allowing only two baserunners, as the Falcons capitalized and put a run on the board in each of the final three innings. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Charlie Auditore singled up the middle for the game-winning hit, as Rizzuto scored from second, 6-5.
