Skyhawks Celebrate Senior Day With Double-Digit PRs at 15th Annual Skyhawk Invite

EASTON, Mass. (April 27, 2024) – Stonehill women's track and field celebrated its senior day at the 15th Annual Skyhawk Invite at W.B. Mason Stadium on Saturday as 13 Skyhawks set new personal records and the team won five events.

The Skyhawks placed third as a team Saturday, scoring 112.5 points while Holy Cross won with 142.5 points and Merrimack came in second with 129 points.

FIELD EVENTS

  • Freshman Rachel Morin (Glocester, R.I.) came in a tie for fifth place in the high jump, reaching 1.53m (5' 0.25"), her second-best jump of the outdoor season.
  • Sophomore Kaia Eder (Moorestown, N.J.) won the triple jump as she also had her second-best jump of the spring with a jump of 11.28m (37' 0.25"). Along with the win, Eder placed third in the long jump with a leap of 5.32m (17' 5.5").
  • Sophomore Sydney Cahill (Reading, Mass.) tallied a seventh-place finish and a new personal record in the long jump with a distance of 5.20m (17' 0.75"). Cahill also finished in sixth place in the javelin throw as she hit a mark of 29.89m (98' 1").
  • Senior Cassidy Becker (North Attleboro, Mass.) finished one spot behind Eder in the triple jump with her best jump of the outdoor season, reaching 11.09m (36' 4.75").
  • Sophomore Jade Roycroft (Wakefield, Mass.) also competed in the triple jump, achieving a new PR with a distance of 9.67m (31' 8.75") to place eighth.
  • Junior Madison Gunderway (Cranston, R.I.) placed fifth in the javelin throw, hitting a personal best mark of 30.60m (100' 4"). Gunderway recorded a throw of 42.22m (138' 6") in the hammer to collect a fifth-place finish.
  • Sophomore Darla Jagrosse (Wallingford, Conn.) came in fourth place in the shot put with a toss of 12.06m (39' 7"), the second-best throw of her career and the best in an outdoor competition. Jagrosse also placed sixth in the discus as she reached 33.12m (108' 8").

TRACK EVENTS

  • Sophomore Grace Tyrrell (Cavendish, Vt.) set a pair of PRs on Saturday, winning the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.35 and placing sixth in the 100-meter dash, clocking in at 13.09 seconds. Tyrrell's time in the 400m hurdles ranks third in the Northeast Conference.
  • Tyrrell was also a member of the first-place 4x400-meter relay team, accompanied by senior Kaytlin Encarnacao (Reading, Mass.), freshman Madison Stott (Dartmouth, Mass.), and junior Emma Lawrence (Milford, Mass.) who combined for a time of 3:53.73.
  • Sophomore Aneka Andrews (McLean, Va.) set a PR in the 100m dash, finishing in 13.43 seconds to place 12th. Andrews also placed fourth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:13.18.
  • Junior Madison Rousseau (Canton, Mass.) placed second in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 14.51 seconds. Becker joined Rousseau in the 100m hurdles, placing fourth with a time of 15.36 seconds.
  • Encarnacao had the best finish for the Skyhawks in the 200-meter dash, placing third with a time of 25.52 seconds. Stott set a PR in the 200m, placing 11th and finishing the race in 26.66 seconds.
  • Lawrence won the 800-meter run to go along with her first-place finish in the 4x400m relay, crossing the finish line in 2:14.12.
  • Freshman Anna Casey (Medford, Mass.) set a new PR for the third straight week in the 800m run, finishing in 2:19.21. Freshman Molly Nyhan (Concord, N.H.) also PR'd in the 800m for the third consecutive meet, notching a time of 2:25.01.
  • Sophomore Jordan Malloy (Colchester, Conn.) won the 1500-meter run with the second-best time of her outdoor season, finishing the race in 4:37.59.
  • Fellow sophomore Emily Young (Newton, Mass.) ran the 1500m with Malloy, placing fourth as she finished in 4:55.52.
  • Freshman Iasmim De Sousa Vieira (Medford, Mass.) set a new PR in the 1500m race in back-to-back weeks with a time of 4:58.13, coming in seventh.

NEXT UP

  • Stonehill Track and Field will be in New Britain, Connecticut next weekend for the Northeast Conference Outdoor Championships beginning on Saturday, May 4 before ending the next day.
