Eder Sets Women’s Track and Field Indoor Triple Jump Record at URI

KINGSTON, R.I. (February 10, 2024) - Sophomore Kaia Eder (Moorestown, N.J.) broke the indoor triple jump school record Saturday afternoon as the Stonehill College women's track and field team competed in the University of Rhode Island Coaches Invitational at Mackal Field House. 

FIELD EVENTS

  • In the triple jump, Eder reached 11.11m (36' 5.5") and placed fourth in the meet, now ranking 10th in the conference in the event. Eder broke a record that stood since Feb. 22, 2014 when Angelina Cormei reached 36' 4.25" at NE10 indoor championships at the Reggie Lews Center in Boston, Mass.
  • Senior Cassidy Becker (North Attleboro, Mass.) also had an impressive performance in the triple jump, setting the third-best mark in Stonehill history and placing sixth after her jump of 10.79m (35' 4.75").
  • Freshman Rachel Morin (Glocester, R.I.) placed sixth in the high jump, tying her second-best mark of the season at 1.55m (5' 1").

TRACK EVENTS

  • Senior Kaytlin Encarnacao (Reading, Mass.) continued her strong indoor season, improving on her conference-best time in the 500m race, coming in first place and running the second-fastest indoor 500m race in Stonehill history with a time of 1:15.18.
  • Encarnacao also had a fourth-place finish in the 200m as she crossed the finish line in 26.02 seconds, moving into sixth place in the conference.
  • Junior Madison Rousseau (Canton, Mass.) tied the second-best time in Stonehill indoor history in the 60m hurdles, finishing in 8.95 seconds. Rousseau now ranks fourth in the NEC in the event.
  • Freshman Katie Gibbons (Pembroke, Mass.) finished the 200m race in 26.73 seconds to come in seventh place.
  • Sophomore Aneka Andrews (McLean, Va.) also finished in the top 10 of the 200m as she clocked in at 27.02 seconds.
  • Freshman Madison Stott (Dartmouth, Mass.) placed second in the 500m, one spot behind Encarnacao, finishing in 1:18.21, also ranking second in the NEC in the event.
  • Sophomore Jordan Malloy (Colchester, Conn.) won the 800m run on Saturday, finishing the race in 2:18.75, a new career-best time. She now ranks fifth in the NEC in the 800m.
  • Junior Emma Lawrence (Milford, Mass.) finished right behind Malloy in the 800m with a time of 2:19.00, ranking sixth in the NEC.
  • In the 1-mile race, freshman Kellie Harrington (Pittsfield, Mass.) ran to a fourth place finish in a time of 5:16.39.
  • Sophomore Emily Young (Newton, Mass.) placed fourth in the 3000m run, finishing in 10:29.78. She is now ranked ninth in the conference in the 3000m.

  • Stonehill track and field is back in action next Sunday and Monday at the Ocean Breeze Sports Complex in Staten Island, N.Y. for the Northeast Conference Championships.
