Malloy Sets a Top-3 Mark in Stonehill History as Women's Track and Field Competes in River Hawk Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. (January 26, 2024) - Sophomore Jordan Malloy (Colchester, Conn.) ran the third fastest 3000m race in Stonehill women's track and field history as the team competed in the River Hawk Invitational at the TRACK at New Balance Friday afternoon.

FIELD EVENTS

  • Senior Abigail Larsson (Bayport, N.Y.) hit a mark of 3.45m in the pole vault, placing 15th, just 0.10m off her personal best of 3.55m.
  • Sophomore Kaia Eder (Moorestown, N.J.) placed 20th in the triple jump, jumping a distance of 11.09m which puts her in the top 10 of triple jumpers in the NEC.

TRACK EVENTS

  • Along with setting a top-3 time in Stonehill program history, Malloy also moved into second place in the Northeast Conference, placing fifth in the 3000m run with a time of 9:55.33, a new personal best.
  • Senior Cassidy Becker (North Attleboro, Mass.) placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing in 9.49 seconds, .01 seconds slower than her personal best time of 9.48 seconds that she set last week at the URI Invitational.
  • Freshman Kay Wheelock ran in the 60-meter hurdles for the second time this season, finishing in 28th place with a new best time of 10.57 seconds.
  • Junior Madison Rousseau (Canton, Mass.) set a top-10 time in the conference with a time of 26.28 seconds in the 200m. She also competed in the 60-meter hurdles, setting a personal best time of 8.99 seconds in the preliminary round.
  • Senior Kaytlin Encarnacao (Reading, Mass.) made her season debut in the 400m dash, placing ninth with a time of 57.99 seconds. This marks the second-fastest time in this event in the Northeast Conference this season.
  • In the 500m run, freshman Madison Stott (Dartmouth, Mass.) came in fifth place, finishing the race in 1:17.92 which puts her in second place in the NEC, only trailing Encarnacao's time of 1:17.68 that she set last week at the URI Invitational.
  • Freshman Kellie Harrington (Pittsfield, Mass.) ran in the indoor 5000m for the first time in her career, finishing the race in 18:33.93 which is a top-five time in the conference.
  • Also competing in the 5000m race was freshman Sydney Kalil (Milford, Mass.) who finshed the race in 18:49.48 to give her the eighth best time in the NEC.

  • Stonehill men's track and field competes in the River Hawk Invitational at the TRACK at New Balance tomorrow and both the women and men return to action at the Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational hosted by Boston University on Sat., Feb 3 at 10 a.m.
