Women’s Track and Field Competes in First Outdoor Meet at UMass Flagship Opener

AMHERST, Mass. (April 7, 2024) - The Stonehill College women's track and field team competed in the University of Massachusetts Flagship Spring Opener Sunday afternoon at the UMass Track and Field Complex in the first meet of the outdoor season.

FIELD EVENTS

  • Freshman Rachel Morin (Glocester, R.I.) placed fifth in her first outdoor high jump, reaching 1.54m (5' 0.75").
  • Freshman Kayla Oakes (Kingston, N.Y.) reached a distance of 5.44m (17' 10.25") in the long jump in her outdoor debut to place eighth.
  • Sophomore Kaia Eder (Moorestown, N.J.) had a jump of 11.50m (37' 8.75") in the triple jump, setting a new personal best mark in the event while coming in third place.

TRACK EVENTS

  • In the 1500m run, sophomore Jordan Malloy (Colchester, Conn.) placed second for the best finish of the day, crossing the finish line in 4:36.67, setting a new PR in the event.
  • Malloy also placed seventh in the 5000m run, finishing in 19:59.83 to mark a new personal best time in the distance event.
  • Junior Emma Lawrence (Milford, Mass.) also notched two new PRs in the 1500m and 5000m, finishing one spot ahead of Malloy in the 5000m, coming in sixth place with a time of 19:59.75. She finished 15th in the 1500m with a time of 4:48.55.
  • Junior Madison Rousseau (Canton, Mass.) finished in fifth place in the 100m hurdles, clocking in at 14.36 seconds.
  • Senior Kaytlin Encarnacao (Reading, Mass.) placed fourth in the 400m dash with a time of 57.02 seconds while setting a new PR in the 200m dash, finishing in 25.36 seconds to place 12th.
  • Making her outdoor debut was freshman Madison Stott (Dartmouth, Mass.) who came in sixth place in the 400m race with a time of 59.13 seconds.

  • Stonehill track and field is back in action on Friday, April 12 for the Friar Invitational at Providence College beginning at 5 p.m.
