STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (February 16, 2024) - The Stonehill men's and women's track and field teams are on the road this weekend, traveling down to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex for the Northeast Conference Championships hosted by Wagner College beginning on Sunday, Feb. 18 before concluding on Monday, Feb. 19.

Stonehill made the move to the Division I level last year by joining the NEC and the men came in eighth place at Indoor Championships in 2023 while the women came in seventh place in their conference championship debuts. This past fall in the Skyhawks second season competing in NEC postseason action, the Stonehill women's cross country team secured the first Division I conference crown on Oct. 28 in Brookville, N.Y.

This weekend will mark the second run at an indoor track and field crown at NEC Championships, with the men and women both gunning for conference titles after incredible individual and team performances this winter. The men are headlined by senior Solomon King (Norwood, Mass.) who ranks atop the conference in leaderboards in three different events, the high jump, 60m dash, and 200m dash. He will be competing in the all three events this weekend as well as being the anchor for the 4x400m relay team.

On the women's side, seniors Abigail Larsson (Baypoint, N.Y.) and Kaytlin Encarnacao (Reading, Mass.) have had standout indoor seasons as Larsson tops the NEC leaderboards in the pole vault while Encarnacao sits atop the 400m and 500m rankings as well as being apart of the top 4x400m performance the conference has seen this winter.

Stonehill track and field has some time off before continuing postseason action with its final meet of the indoor season, competing at New England Championships at the TRACK at New Balance in Boston, Mass. on Friday, March 1 and Saturday, March 2.
