Hannon is ranked first in the mile in the Conference and 39th in the Division

EASTON, Mass. (February 15, 2017) – The Stonehill College women's track and field team will compete in the Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday, February 17-18, hosted by American International College at Smith College Indoor Track Facility in Northampton, Massachusetts.

The women are currently ranked No. 1 in this week's U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II East Regional Computer Rankings, while the men are placed third.

The women were selected by the NE10's 12 coaches to take first place recording 121 points and 11 first-place tallies. Southern Connecticut State University was voted second with 107 points and one first-place tally, as American International College rounded out the top three with 96 points. Assumption College and Merrimack College tied for fourth totaling 84 points each.

The women captured its fourth-straight NE10 Indoor Track and Field title last season with six All-Conference performances.

Two women student-athletes and one relay team bypassed NCAA provisional times this season, including Jillian Caiazzi (Marlborough, Massachusetts/Marlborough) in the 800 meter, Elizabeth Hannon (Franklin, Massachusetts/Bishop Feehan) in the mile, and Hannon, Caiazzi, Krista Fernandes (Taunton, Massachusetts/Coyle and Cassidy), and Anna Lastra (Bridgton, Maine/Fryeburg Academy) in the distance medley relay. Currently, the DMR ranks 21st in the division and first in the conference, while Caiazzi is ranked 34th overall and second in the conference and Hannon sits 39th overall and first in the conference.

Stonehill are currently sweeping first, second, and third in the mile and pole vault. Hannon, Emily Knox (Worcester, Massachusetts/Notre Dame Academy), and Lastra sit atop the rankings for the mile, while Alison Tobin (Hudson, Massachusetts/Hudson), Alexandra Sexton (Lost Gatos, California/Los Gatos), and Ashley Colarusso (Tewskbury, Massachusetts/Tewksbury) sweep pole vault for the Skyhawks.

The 4x800-meter relay squad is ranked first from their performance at New Englands, aiming for the programs' seventh-straight 4x800 title and 11th in 12 years.

Besides running in the DMR, Fernandes is ranked second in the 400-meter run. Lastra sits third in the 3000-meter ranking, as Knox is seeded first. Knox and Makenzie Cyr (Douglas, Massachusetts/Douglas) look to tally points for the Skyhawks as Knox is third in the 5000 meters and Cyr is close behind her in fourth.

Olivia Dexter (East Calais, Vermont/Union 32), who finished third in last years' 60-meter dash is ranked fifth in the Conference, while she also placed fourth in the 200 meters, as she is ranked second overall.

In the field, Shayla Lyons (Westerlo, New York/Bishop Maginn/Berne-Knox Westerlo) and Gaelin Farrell (Baldwinville, Massachusetts/Narragansett Regional) take on a very competitive task of placing in the shot put, as Lyons is ranked fourth and Farrell holds a steady seventh.

Colleen Perry (Weymouth, Massachusetts/Weymouth) broke her own school record this season in the pentathlon with a total of 2,788 points at the Harvard Multi Meet and is currently ranked eighth among the competition.

The 4x400-meter relay team that finished fourth at last years' championship currently sits third in the field with its time from the New England Championships.

Four competitors in the NE10 Championship this season are tied for fourth in the high jump, including Ashley Daggett (Attleboro, Massachusetts/Attleboro) and Madison Ward (Holliston, Massachusetts/Holliston) with their mark of 5 feet, 4.25 inches.

Following the NE10 Championships, Stonehill will compete in the BU Last Chance Meet, hosted by Boston University at the BU Track & Tennis Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
