Northeast 10 Outdoor Track and Field Report: Week 2

EASTON, Mass. (April 13, 2018) – Stonehill College's women's track and field freshman Casey Gannon (Warwick, Rhode Island/Toll Gage) earned Northeast-10 Conference Track Rookie of the Week, as announced by the organization on Thursday.

Gannon competed in three events over the weekend at the 53rd Colonial Relays at the Walter J. Stadium in Williamsburg, Virginia, hosted by the College of William and Mary.

The Warwick, Rhode Island native ran in the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles, while also running a leg of the 4x400-meter relay.

In the 400-meter hurdles, Gannon clocked in at 1:04.71, finishing 21st out of 58 competitors. The freshman qualified for New England's with this time, and she is currently ranked third in the NE10 and is the top freshman in the conference.

Gannon also finished 39th out of 54 competitors in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.62. Her time is ranked fifth overall in the conference and is the second freshman in the event.

In the 4x400-meter relay, the Skyhawks took home sixth place out of eight teams clocking in a time of 4:01.77. Fiona Jordan (Norwood, Massachusetts/Norwood) started off the relay in the lead leg with an unofficial time of 1:01.5 and handed the baton off to Gannon who ran an unofficial split of 59.5. Jillian Caiazzi (Marlborough, Massachusetts/Marlborough) was the third leg, running the 400-meter sprint in an unofficial time of 59.9 and giving the baton to Krista Fernandes (Taunton, Massachusetts/Coyle and Cassidy) for an anchor leg and unofficial time of 1:01.1.

The Skyhawks will compete at the Silfen Invitational this Friday and Saturday at the David and Lyn Silfen Track & Field in New London, Connecticut, hosted by Connecticut College.
