Tobin hits her first-career NCAA provisional mark

BOSTON, Mass. (February 25, 2018) – The Stonehill College women's track and field team sent Olivia Dexter (East Calais, Vermont/Union 32), Alison Tobin (Hudson, Massachusetts/Hudson), and the 4000-meter distance medley relay to the Boston University Last Chance Meet on Sunday, February 25.
All three events improved their marks, including breaking two school records, bypassing the NCAA Division II provisional mark, and dropping 11 seconds off their time.
Tobin was one of two women record breakers, as she hit a mark of 11 feet, 10 inches, good for sixth place. This mark also bypassed the NCAA Division II provisional height of 11 feet, 8.5 inches, placing her 31st in the field of qualifiers.
Dexter also broke her own school record in the 200-meter dash, finishing with a time of 24.98, .08 off the NCAA Division II provisional time. The junior placed first in her heat and fifth overall the field of 42 competitors.
The distance medley relay, including Anna Lastra (Bridgton, Maine/Fryeburg/Academy), Krista Fernandes (Taunton, Massachusetts/Coyle and Cassidy), Jillian Caiazzi (Marlborough, Massachusetts/Marlborough), and Elizabeth Hannon (Franklin, Massachusetts/Bishop Feehan) took home second among the 11 teams with a time of 11:39.90. This time improved their NCAA provisional ranking to eighth. The quartet dropped 11 seconds off their personal best and were four seconds off the school record, set in 2016. Lastra kicked off the relay with an unofficial 3:36.5 1200-meter split, followed by Fernandes' unofficial 58.0 400-meter leg. Caiazzi took the baton and clocked an unofficial personal best of 2:11.8 800-meter third leg, while Hannon crossed the finish with an unofficial personal best time of 4:53.4 mile split.
Stonehill will take some time off before sending a small group to the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, which will take place from Friday, March 9-10 at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kansas, hosted by Pittsburg State University.
