Skyhawks collect three All-New England honors in two days

Hannon finished the Championship with a personal best in the mile, two All-New England honors, and a NCAA provisional mark

ROXBURY, Mass. (February 3, 2018) – The Stonehill College women's track and field team wrapped up day two of the New England Championships in 15^th place with 13 points.

The Stonehill women collected three All-New England honors over the two-day championship and broke one school record.

After placing seventh in the 60-meter preliminary round with a time of 7.83, Olivia Dexter (East Calais, Vermont/Union 32) finished in eighth with the same time for her fifth-career All-New England honor.

The 4x800-meter relay team including Jillian Caiazzi (Marlborough, Massachusetts/Marlborough), Alyssa Freeman (Billerica, Massachusetts/Billerica Memorial), Kelly Higgins (Weymouth, Massachusetts/Weymouth), and Elizabeth Hannon (Franklin, Massachusetts/Bishop Feehan) placed fifth among 11 teams. The quartet completed the race in 9:13.38 seconds as the first Division II program across the finish line earning an All-New England honor. Caiazzi clocked in with the first leg in 2:17.6 followed by Higgins, crossing the finish line in 2:18.3. Hannon completed the third leg in 2:18.7 and Freeman was the final Skyhawk in the anchor leg with a 2:17.4 split.

Higgins also competed in the 1000-meter run, clocking in with a time of 3:04.03, good for 19^th, in her first New England Championship appearance.

Senior Alison Tobin (Hudson, Massachusetts/Hudson) placed 13^th out of 23 competitors in the pole vault, reaching a height of 11 feet, 7.75 inches, breaking the previous school record which Tobin set in December with a height of 11 feet, 5.75 inches. Freshman Alexandra Sexton (Los Gatos, California/Los Gatos) competed in her first New England Championship clearing a mark of 10 feet, 8 inches, good for 23^rd.

Dexter earned her fifth-career All-New England honor

Sophomore Shayla Lyons (Westerlo, New York/Bishop Maginn/Berne-Knox Westerlo) and senior Gaelin Farrell (Baldwinville, Massachusetts/Narragansett Regional) finished second and fourth, respectively, in their flight for the shot put. Lyons tossed the shot put a distance of 41 feet, 11.5 inches finishing ninth overall, while Farrell placed 16^th overall with a distance of 39 feet, 8 inches.

Hannon and sophomore Anna Lastra (Bridgton, Maine/Fryeburg Academy) finished 15^th and 16^th, respectively in the mile run. Hannon clocked in at a personal best of 5:05.43, while Lastra finished with a time of 5:05.71.

The 4x400-meter relay team consisting of Krista Fernandes (Taunton, Massachusetts/Coyle and Cassidy), Fiona Jordan (Norwood, Massachusetts/Norwood), Claire Hurtado (Newington, Connecticut/Northwest Catholic), and Casey Gannon (Warwick, Rhode Island/Toll Gate) finished first in their heat with a time of 3:59.61, good for 11^th overall.

Stonehill will split time at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University, and the URI Coaches' Tribute Meet, hosted by the University of Rhode Island on Friday, February 9 for one last chance before the Northeast-10 Conference Championships from February 17-18.
