Women's Swimming Earns CSCAA Scholar All-America Honors for Third-Straight Semester

Skyhawks recognized for posting a 3.30 GPA during fall semester

EASTON, Mass. (January 26, 2022) – The Stonehill College women's swimming program, under the direction of head coach Caleb Potvin, has been named a Scholar All-America squad by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for the third-straight semester for having a grade point average over 3.0 during the spring.

Stonehill, in its second season after being added as the College's 22nd varsity athletic program in September 2019, earned a 3.30 grade point average for the fall 2021 semester – good for fifth among the Northeast-10 Conference programs recognized and the Skyhawks are among 728 teams from 450 institutions nationwide to be honored, including one of 519 with a team GPA of 3.30 or higher.

Stonehill's 11 student-athletes from the fall semester include juniors Nika Sokolova and Maggie Timmoney, sophomores Maddie Conley, Morgan Gangi, Katie Keating and Sydney Stockwell, along with freshmen Sofiya Gobora, Jami Hepburn, Pili Lum, Sharlotte Lundell and Julie Mastroianni.

Stonehill is in the midst of its first official season in the pool, having recorded a 5-3 record in head-to-head competition. The Skyhawks are next scheduled to return to the pool on February 17-20 when it competes at its first Northeast-10 Swimming and Diving Championships to be hosted by Southern Connecticut State University at Hutchinson Natatorium.

Founded in 1922, the CSCAA, is the nation's first organization of college coaches. The mission of the CSCAA is to advance the sport of swimming and diving with coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy, and professional development.
