Women’s Swimming Splits Duals in Debut at Keene State

KEENE, N.H. (October 9, 2021) - Stonehill College made its much-anticipated debut with a tri-meet hosted by Keene State College at Spaulding Pool with Colby-Sawyer College this afternoon.

The Details

  • Stonehill split the dual, earning the first head-to-head win in program history with a 194.00-56.00 victory over Colby-Sawyer, while being edged by host Keene State, 136.00-135.00, despite a rally from 35 points down after four events.
  • Stonehill competed in its first head-to-head competition in a delayed inaugural season after the scheduled 2020-21 season was relegated to virtual meets due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Sophomore captain Sydney Stockwell took first place in all three of her individual swims, while also leading off Stonehill's 200-yard medley relay that finished second in 1:57.09.
  • Stockwell won the 50-yard freestyle in 26.63-seconds, while finishing the 100-yard butterfly in 1:02.57 and then winning the 200-yard backstroke in 2:16.72.

    Freshman Jami Hepburn added two individual wins as part of three top five finishes, while also swimming the second leg of Stonehill's 200-yard medley relay. She won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:10.66, while taking the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:35.69.
  • Sophomore Katie Keating added a first-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:20.58, while finishing in the top three in all three of her swims. She added a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:03.11, while finishing third in the 100-yard freestyle in 59.55-seconds.
  • Freshman Sofiya Gobora placed in the top three in all three of her individual swims, taking second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.35) and 100-yard freestyle (57.37), while finishing third in the 200-meter individual medley (2:20.76).
  • Gobora also anchored Stonehill's 200-yard freestyle relay that finished first in 1:48.14. She was joined on the relay by Keating, sophomore captain Maddie Conley and freshman Julie Mastroianni.
