Senior midfielder Mancuso tallies her third goal of her career

EASTON, Mass. (October 1, 2016) – The No. 5 Stonehill College women's soccer team continued its undefeated streak as it blew past Saint Michael's Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 victory at Skyhawk Field.

Stonehill's (9-0-1, 5-0-1 NE-10) Elizabeth Nerger (Marshfield, Mass), Andrea Mancuso (Highland Mills, N.Y./Cornwall Central), and Madalyn Fernbach (Plainview, N.Y./Plainview JFK) assisted the Skyhawks in the victory, each tallying their second goals of the season.

Saint Michael's (1-8-0, 1-6-0 NE-10) Megan LeCours tallied four saves in the match, as the Purple Knights recorded three total shots in the loss.

The Skyhawks opened up the first half with nine shots, tallying two on goal. The first came off of a scuffle in front of the Saint Michael's goal, where Fernbach found Nerger open at the top of the six-yard box. The Marshfield, Mass. Native drove the ball past LeCours as she dove to her right missing just short at the 29th minute of the game.

Before the half was over, Stonehill took advantage of another opportunity at the 43rd minute as Nerger chipped the ball to Mancuso who was open about 35 yards out sending it right under the crossbar over LeCours outstretched hands, opening up the game 2-0 in favor of the Skyhawks.

After 17 minutes of scoreless action heading into the second half, Stonehill acted on its second corner kick of the game as Duserick took a short kick and found Fernbach right inside the 18-yard box. The ball sailed to the right upper 90 for her second of the season and fourth of her career. The Skyhawks shut down the Purple Knights in the second half as they weren't able to get off any shots.

Senior goalkeeper Jamie Block (Georgetown, Mass./Georgetown) recorded her sixth shutout of the season with the victory.

Stonehill takes on three Northeast-10 matches away from Skyhawk field, as it first travels to Bentley University on Tuesday, October 4 for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
