EASTON, Mass. (September 28, 2016) – The No. 5 Stonehill women's soccer team secured its fifth clean sweep this season against Northeast-10 Conference foe Assumption College, 1-0, Wednesday afternoon at Skyhawk Field.

Stonehill (8-0-1, 4-0-1 NE-10) senior Lydia Beiter (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) recorded her second-career goal in the Skyhawk's victory with classmate Brianna Duserick (Canton, Mass./Canton) assisting the tally. Senior goalkeeper Jamie Block (Georgetown, Mass./Georgetown) totaled eight saves in the afternoon game.
 
The Assumption Greyhounds (5-4-0, 3-3-0) tallied nine shots on goal, while goalkeeper Alexis Nason registered no saves on the one shot on goal by the Skyhawks.

With the two teams battling neck and neck, Stonehill had an open opportunity in the 42nd minute when Duserick took a free kick from about 40 yards out. Beiter was able to track down the ball in front of the net and send the shot to the back of the mesh for her second-career game-winning goal. Her first was this season against No. 20 LIU Post on September 10.

The rest of the game remained scoreless, as the Skyhawks could not capitalize on its one shot in the second half. The Greyhounds' were unable to connect on their 11 total corner kicks, but had one extremely close call in the 81st minute when Jessica Fitzgerald collected the ball after a corner kick. Fitzgerald played the ball in front of the net, but was it was deflected by a defensive save by the Skyhawks.

Stonehill continues Northeast-10 Conference play as it hosts Saint Michael's College on Saturday, October 1 on Skyhawk Field for a noon match.
