Easton, MASS. (September 2, 2016) - The Stonehill women's soccer team faces forward with a squad of 30 to complete their goal of climbing to the top after a 12th-place Northeast-10 Conference preseason finish. 

Head Coach Alex Wilson welcomes a group of eight freshman to a large returning group, including 10 seniors, to take advantage of the experienced and add new skills to the mix. 

In the Northeast-10 Preseason Poll, Adelphi University (193 points) was tabbed first, tallying 11 first-place votes, followed by College of Saint Rose (184) who clinched the remaining four first-palce votes. American International College was chosen to finish third, while Southern New Hampshire University (155), Assumption College (139), and Merrimack College (121) were voted fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively. Southern Connecticut State University (118) nailed the seventh-place mark. University of New Haven (103) edged Franklin Pierce University (99) for eighth-place, as Pace University (92) was voted to place 10th. 

The Skyhawks return two of their three leading goal scorers, senior Andrea Mancuso (Highland Mills, N.Y./Cornwall Central) and junior Meredith Moore (Salem, Conn./East Lyme) while also having senior goalkeeper Jamie Block (Georgetown, Mass./Georgetown) defend the net. Block finished the 2015 season fourth in the Conference with 91 saves and ninth in save percentage (.805).

Stonehill opens the 2016 campaign Friday evening when it takes on Assumption College at 4 p.m. for its first match of the Catholic Cup, hosted by Saint Michael's College. The Skyhawks will host Molloy College in its home opener on Thursday, September 8 for a 4 p.m. match-up.
